Hola familia! It's officially 2023! ?? One of my favorite Latino NYE traditions is the 12 grapes. Every year we eat 12 grapes symbolizing un deseo (one wish) for each month of the new year. My biggest, most consistent wish this year is health—mental health, emotional health, spiritual health and healthy relationships. If you can relate to this deseo than this episode is for you!

I am so honored to have talked to Adriana Alejandre , therapist and founder of the amazing podcast Latinx Therapy !

Adriana created Latinx Therapy to provide access to mental health resources for our community. And now, Latinx Therapy and Breyers, a family-oriented ice cream brand, have partnered to create a digital toolkit called Conversaciones Vainilla as a guide to help sweeten up taboo conversations within our multigenerational families.

?Here is a sneak peek of our conversation:

“I really wanted to create a media-style resource for the community.” -Adriana Alejandre

Adriana turned all her frustration into creating a much-needed platform for our community. She saw how Latinos and immigrants were on waitlists to receive therapy, the lack of representation and lived experience in therapists, and lack of available resources overall. So y’all know what she did? She created the resources she wished she and our communities had! *insert snapping emoji*

“I know firsthand the complexity and the challenges for conversations like these.” -Adriana Alejandre

In many Latinx/o households, we live with los tíos, los abuelos o los primos, and having conversations with our family on topics such as dating, religion, therapy, and finances, among others, can be difficult. This is why I love Conversaciones Vainilla and how Adriana put a lot of heart and thought into creating a resource to help encourage, inspire, and facilitate meaningful conversations in our multigenerational families.
