The Helimed Rescue Challenge

Get up and go! ServiceMaster Brands UK is taking on the Helimed Rescue Challenge.

At ServiceMaster Brands, our franchisees are always on the move. Whether they are bringing our expert restoration services to homes and businesses after an incident or heading to homes across the UK to carry out bespoke domestic cleaning - they all have that get-up-and-go factor.

It is the result of these factors that we are taking on the Helimed Rescue Challenge.

So what’s the Challenge?

The Helimed Rescue Challenge is a new and exciting long-distance virtual challenge undertaken by individuals or teams. The challenge is to cross 2268 miles via a combination or single distance-based exercise to raise money for Air Ambulance.

Entrants can run, cycle, swim, walk, row, cross-train, count their steps, hop, skip, or even jump: as long as there is movement and forward momentum.

Not only will this keep participants fit, but it also takes us on a virtual tour of the UK's 30 Airbases.

Entrants have until 31/01/24 to complete their virtual journey and will record their mileage as they go along on an interactive map.

This means we can track our virtual progress online, see where our teammates are, and read real-life mission stories from each Aircrew as we reach their base.

Why the Helimed Rescue Challenge?

Unlike a road ambulance, the air ambulance takes critical care paramedics and doctors to the scene of an accident or incident, providing hospital-type care where it is needed most and?saving lives by saving time!

However, saving lives costs money!?

Did you know that it costs between ￡1700 and ￡2500 (depending on location) to get an Air Ambulance in the air each time?

Or that (on average) each air ambulance responds to 3 calls daily from each of the 30 bases across the UK.

But, even though they are considered the 4th?emergency service, the air ambulance relies solely on charitable donations and receives no Government Funding - unlike Police, Ambulance & Fire Services.

To keep saving lives and time, the Air Ambulance service needs help. This is why ServiceMaster has chosen to sponsor the medals for the challenge so that as much of the money raised from the challenge is donated to the charity.

Registration costs ￡13.50 per entrant and an additional ￡5.50 if you’d like to receive a finisher’s medal. There is also a commemorative t-shirt available for purchase.??

This money will go directly to supporting each Air Ambulance Charity up and down the UK.

There is also a Facebook Group where other entrants interact and share their journeys, participate in optional treasure hunts, and share videos and tips on grabbing extra miles.
