Italy Investigates Helicopter Crash That Killed 3

A helicopter crashed near Castelguelfo di Noceto, Parma, Italy, on February 5, 2025, killing all three on board, including Lorenzo Rovagnati, CEO of the Italian cured meat company Rovagnati. Preliminary assessments suggest the cause may have been pilot error due to heavy fog or a mechanical failure in the tail rotor, prompting an investigation by Italy’s civil aviation authority and the Parma Public Prosecutor’s Office. Authorities have ordered an examination of the helicopter’s black box to determine the exact cause of the crash Click image above for reading the related post!

Preliminary Report Links Azerbaijan Airlines E-190 Crash to External Object Damage

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport released a preliminary report on February 4, 2025, attributing the December 25, 2024, Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer E-190 crash near Aktau, Kazakhstan, to external object damage. Investigators found multiple puncture holes on the aircraft’s fuselage, consistent with shrapnel impact, and recovered a fragment of a Russian Pantsir-S missile from the wreckage. Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) analysis confirmed sequential hydraulic system failures following two distinct external noises, leading to loss of control and impact northwest of Aktau International Airport. EASA Updates Pilot Training and Licensing Regulations with New Amendments

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued Decision 2025/002/R, amending the acceptable means of compliance (AMC) and guidance material (GM) for Regulations (EU) No 1178/2011 and 965/2012, introducing changes in pilot training, licensing, and operational procedures. Key updates include enhanced training requirements for cruise relief co-pilots (CRCPs), an increased age limit for single-pilot helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) pilots, and clarifications on licensing for electrically powered aircraft and private pilot training credits. The amendments aim to improve regulatory clarity, enhance safety, and reduce administrative burdens while maintaining compliance across various aviation sectors. SARPcheck global aviation safety audit: A wet lease, codeshare, ACMI Booster

SARPcheck is a new global aviation safety audit that assesses airline compliance with select ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) across defined ICAO Annexes. The primary aim of this audit is to enhance global flight safety while providing an affordable and accessible tool to facilitate ACMI, wet lease, and codeshare operations. The ICAO Annexes and SARPs that SARPcheck focuses on are specifically those outlined by regulatory and industry standards, including FAA requirements for overseeing foreign air carriers and the TCO approval elements of EASA.

SARPcheck is governed by a London-based not-for-profit organization, the Safety Audit Review Partnership (SARP Ltd.), which accredits Safety Quality Organizations (SQOs) such as AEROTHRIVE to conduct these audits globally. Detailed information about the program, including the SARPcheck Program Manual (SCPM), informative brochures, and the latest updates, is available on our website at https://aerothrive.com/audits/sarpcheck-audits/. For further inquiries or personal assistance, please feel free to send me a message. I'm always happy to help! Lufthansa City Airlines is the global launch customer of SARPcheck.
