Helicopter Crash Investigation Underway at Oaxaca Airport, Mexico
An Agusta A109-E helicopter, registration XC-HUX, operated by the Oaxaca state government, crashed near the runway threshold of Oaxaca International Airport during a landing maneuver. All occupants sustained only minor injuries, and no severe damage to ground infrastructure was reported. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident, with initial response involving police and medical teams for immediate evacuation of the crew. Pilot Killed in Crop-Duster Crash in Olanchito, Honduras
Aviation Captain Darwin Meza lost his life when the Turbo Thrush aircraft he piloted, registered HR-AZD, crashed around 6:30 p.m. on January 12, 2025, near the Santa Inés plantation in Olanchito, Yoro, Honduras. The aircraft took off at 5:30 p.m. and was conducting aerial spraying operations for Standard Fruit Company when the accident occurred. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the incident, and the Honduran Air Force issued a statement mourning the death of their former captain. FAA Investigates Near-Collision Between Two Passenger Planes at Phoenix Airport
The FAA is investigating a near-miss incident at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport where a United Airlines flight from San Francisco and a Delta flight from Detroit came within 425 feet vertically and less than a quarter mile horizontally during landing. Both aircraft received automated collision warnings, prompting evasive maneuvers before safely landing. The air traffic controller initially cleared the United flight for Runway 7 and directed the Delta flight toward Runway 8 before the loss of separation occurred, marking the latest in a growing number of U.S. runway incursions, with 1,757 reported in fiscal 2024..
