Held’s Hero Award Presented to Rafael Trivi?o Naranjo for Q2 2024

Rafael Trivi?o Naranjo: Animal Rescue Advocate

Our Q2 2024 Held’s Hero Award recipient, Rafael Trivi?o Naranjo, has been working with Fundación Animal Safe Colombia for the past 10 years. The organization, a non-profit created in 2001, has rescued more than 40,000 animals.

As a volunteer, Rafael has participated in various activities with Fundación Animal Safe, such as rescues, bathing, and fundraising events. He has also assisted by leading civic committees and task teams for the group. Currently, more than 1,000 dogs are protected within their canine shelter and approximately 100 cats are in foster homes and daycare centers in several municipalities across the country, all placed by the organization.

Further, Fundación Animal Safe is a national leader in Colombia in the administrative prosecution of cases involving violence against animals. Through these efforts, the organization seeks to encourage community involvement and raise awareness about animal rights and protection.?

“My favorite part of being a volunteer is witnessing the transformation of the lives of these animals into loving and loyal companions,” Rafael says. “I can see the happiness of the families who choose to adopt from the shelter instead of buy because they understand that every animal deserves a life of dignity and care.”

Rafael adds, “All of us can help others.” With that in mind, his advice to those looking to volunteer is to first find causes or organizations that resonate with their personal interests and values. Additionally, he suggests they should see how volunteering fits into their schedule in order to make a commitment without feeling overwhelmed. By taking this step-by-step approach, Rafael says, “This will make the experience more fulfilling and enjoyable.”

Based in Cali, Colombia, Rafael has more than a decade of experience leading IT projects and technological operations in diverse sectors. He joined J.S. Held in 2021. In his current role, Rafael establishes project goals, objectives, tasks, timelines, and budgets. He manages and tracks various aspects of a project and communicates with relevant stakeholders. Rafael also provides analytical support for technology projects and manages other full-time project staff, contractors, and vendors.
