Held’s Hero Award Presented to Livia Paggi for Q4 2024

Our Q4 2024 Held’s Hero Award recipient, Livia Paggi , is a robust philanthropist who helps several charities throughout the Greater London area. She serves as a trustee and member of the Risk and Ethics Committee for the Camden Art Centre, an art gallery and education center dedicated to connecting the community with local artists and a deeper relationship with art.

Livia comes from a long family tradition of community involvement, crediting her passion to her mother and grandmother. She currently lives in Camden Town, London, with her husband and three small daughters – all under the age of 7. Since moving to the area over 10 years ago, Livia has found different ways to be involved in her community and help others.

During the pandemic, Livia helped organize the Hampstead Volunteer Corps, a volunteer organization. The corps recruited over 1,000 people to collect and distribute food, medication, and other supplies to vulnerable neighborhoods. Livia led a group of 30 volunteers to liaise with pharmacies and other local organizations to ensure no one was left behind.

At the Camden Art Centre, Livia fundraises and identifies potential donors for the organization to keep art workshops for children and education programs free of cost. Since her beginning on the Ethics Committee, Livia has reviewed potential donors to check for any reputational risks, developing the organization’s 2025 strategy.

Livia plans to have the Camden Art Centre collaborate with the Queens Crescent Community Association (QCCA), another local charity she supports, to provide workshops for local youth and prevent gang affiliation. The QCCA is a local grassroots organization that helps youth stay out of crime, supports elderly people, and runs the biggest food bank in the area. As the Chair of the Board of the QCCA, Livia has raised more than £50,000 over the past year, which enabled the QCCA to fund programs for another year after government budget cuts.

Alongside her support, Livia hopes to leave behind a legacy for her daughters and raise them with the same values instilled in her.

“Be kind, always help others, and know that your life will undoubtedly be richer for it,” adds Livia. “With these simple values, I think one can make the world a slightly brighter place.”

We are proud of Livia and the tremendous work she continues to do both within and outside of J.S. Held. As the Q4 2024 Held’s Hero Award recipient, J.S. Held will make a financial contribution to the Camden Art Centre in Livia’s honor. If you would like to contribute to the Camden Art Centre, or learn more about the organization, click here.
