Hedin IT - A quick look at 2022

It’s been an amazing year for Hedin Mobility Group and Hedin IT as the IT provider for the group. We like this once in a lifetime challenge and stand ready for more to come. During 2023 we’ll focus on optimizing every part in our organization, but we’ll also grow, all planned migrations during 2023 will almost double the number of users in our environment!

All our teams have been expanded with new capable colleagues and with the team we have now we’re looking forward to everything coming our way.

We would also like to reach out to our new company, Hedin IT Benelux BV, going live from 1/1 2023. This is an important milestone for Hedin IT as we’re now expanding into Europe. With Richard Moeliker and his fantastic team coming in from Stern and forming this company, we have boosted our experience and competence level within Hedin IT.

We’ve written a few words from each of our teams to give you a retrospect of 2022.

Development

With Kristoffer M?rdén and Nicklas Br?nnstedt at the helm it’s been a successful year at Web, E-commerce, and PIM with a total of 15 new rollouts. We went live with our largest web production, hedinbil.se, which now runs on our new retail platform, Sitecore CMS. Beyond that we’ve launched new sites for Renault, Dacia, Hongqi, BYD, Klintberg & Way and of course our very own website at Hedin IT. Development has been for different markets and countries.

We’ve already started work on next year deliverables and during the first half of 2023 we’ll go live with the new Bavaria.se and Bavaria.no sites. In parallel we’ve developed the first online automotive buying experience for the group. Car configurators for multiple brands, both in retail and in distribution, will also launch during 2023.

Daniel Norén , our software architect, has been busy overseeing our own development framework, Hedin Development Framework (HDF), which has evolved as a standard in software development and several micro services has already launched. Our first project on the HDF standard, Polaris, will launch Q1 2023. Polaris will replace our current PIM solution.

To maintain our strong pace and focus on releasing and maintaining our solutions, we’ve grown with 10 people during the year. Our recruiting activities are not slowing down and we’ve already recruited new talent in both product ownership and development who’ll start early next year.

Business Intelligence

Within the BI department Claudia Wallin has taken over as Head of BI and structured the department for further growth and better service to the group. The team has performed fantastically in creating a cutting edge set up for analysis and reporting, with a brand-new data lake house in azure and a new reporting suite being built in Microsoft Power BI. The team has grown from four to seven, while being able to keep productivity high and satisfaction for business and group management.

CRM

The CRM department is a newly founded department in the group, currently in a pre-study phase to better understand the business and environment within IT. The roadmap is still in development but during next year focus will be on growing the team to service our distribution, as well as starting the journey for retail. The focus right now is the leads process for BYD in Germany to capture all potential business for the future.

Integrations

The integrations team is relatively new in its context, created after our re-organization in early September, we decided to breakout integrations. A strategic decision to highlight and focus on integrations more as it will become increasingly important when we consolidate our businesses in the group and keep growing.

The focus has been on integrating OEM data to ARC; however, we’re also focusing on robust work for Hedin Parts and Logistics (formerly known as Orio).

Our RPA venture has focused on developing a standard for future development and taking ownership of our current RPA processes. RPA has gained an increasing interest where Axel Skauby Killick is starting to consolidate our future efforts in the group. For 2023 the goals are set high with the aim of developing RPAs to equal 10 FTEs to secure overhead costs in administrative work for the group.

Operations

Patric Ekroth coming in as new Operations Manager and CIO has boosted our organization and gives use time to focus on back-end infrastructure as well as migrations.?

The migration of businesses into hedin.net has continued relentlessly during the year, including new brands like Toyota, Renault, BYD, Hongqi and more. DevOps processes are being set-up to handle a true hybrid environment. To further improve the capacity of our service delivery to our businesses in Europe, a new Data Center has been launched in Zurich, CH.

Our strong determination in IT security has given us better resilience against vulnerabilities across our network and services. We’ve also automated and developed our rollout platform with more applications available to the business.

More skill has been brought into our already experienced teams. This enables us to enhance the delivery and bandwidth of our services and to be prepared for the even bigger challenges we face in the 2023.

Service Desk

Emma Agby and her team has turned around the Service Desk to a premium support organization, currently solving around 1000 cases on a rolling seven-day cycle.

The onboarding routines for the group has been optimized and our knowledge base has been greatly expanded to ease the burden of onboarding IT-personnel.

We’ve invested heavily in ServiceNow, and it has paid off! The processes and flows of the business are now streamlined and require less effort to solve.

ERP and business systems

Our talented Product Owner Alfons Andréasson and Head of ERP, Isabell H?kansson has been key in the success of our ERP and IMS development. We started off the year by continuing development on our own Importer Management System, ARC IMS. The system is a strong module-based application, built on robust technologies such as Microsoft Business Central, ServiceNow and Hedin IT developed integrations and adaptations.

Before the 3 months mark, RN Nordic AB was live on the platform!

ARC has since then been launched for several different brands and companies within the group, among those are Hedin MG Sweden, Hedin Electric Mobility and Hedin US Motor. Over the course of 2023, 100?000 cars are expected to be handled through the ARC-platform.

Our newly recruited product owner for DMS, Axel Nord has come in strong with an immediate rollout of a new DMS in the group. Together with our Norwegian colleagues we implemented Incadea DMS on the Norwegian BMW market and on the tire/wheel operations we merged three companies into one, creating cost effective solutions for the future. It also means we’re on modern platforms within these companies.

Our constant migrations with newly acquired businesses have also been fun and challenging, we did our largest migration early in the year for Bavaria Norway and then we’ve done about 20 more, some larger and some smaller.

Service Automation has got a new team, led by Kristian Densloe and we’re now committed to developing a strong automation platform on ServiceNow technology.

Fleet

The fleet-team has started the work to the new platform to be able to meet the demand from the business. This platform will have the capabilities to expand our fleet business outside of Sweden, we’ve also introduced a new hardware supplier on the fleet side.

Finance

The Finance team within Hedin IT has also undergone some major changes, previously Hedin IT finance was handled by the parent company. In the end of summer, we changed that setup and Karin Schelin joined as Head of Finance. She has been a key the finance black box. We are now able to fully understand and build a solid foundation for the future. Currently we’re preparing to change our own ERP in Q1 next year which will provide us with new possibilities to grow even further.
