Balyasny adds gas trader from MFT Energy
Balyasny Asset Management, the $20 billion multi-strategy hedge fund led by Dimitry Balyasny, has bolstered its natural gas and power trading team in Denmark by hiring Federico Cesni as a Gas Trader, Financial News London reports.
Cesni, previously with Aarhus-based MFT Energy, left in July and is expected to start his new role at Balyasny in Q3 2025, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Sanlam Investments Multi-Manager names Head of Hedge Funds
Sanlam Investments Multi-Manager has appointed Lethu Zulu as Head of Hedge Funds, effective October 1, 2024, FA News reports. Zulu will oversee both local and global hedge fund portfolios.
Returning from Alexforbes Investments, where he managed Global and Specialist Portfolios, Zulu previously worked with Sanlam from 2016 to 2021. He’s completing a Master’s in Computational and Applied Mathematics at the University of the Witwatersrand and has completed the Programme for Management Development at the University of Cape Town. In his earlier role at Sanlam, he contributed to fund screening, due diligence, and asset allocation.
Ex-Freepoint Gas Trading head to launch energy hedge fund
Freddie Sizer, former Head of European Physical Gas Trading at Freepoint Commodities, is launching Sizer Commodities Investments, a new hedge fund focused on Europe’s volatile energy markets, Bloomberg reports. Based in Zug, Switzerland, the fund aims to raise $300 million before its planned launch in January 2026, with Sizer as Chief Investment Officer.
