With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our founder, Bill Matteson.

We are sad to announce that Seattle native, William Adrienne Matteson, 79, passed away on Christmas Day, 2022, after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's. Known as "Bill Matteson," he is survived by his daughter Michaeline, son Shane, brothers Dan and Cliff, sister Dorothy, and former wife, Virginia, who remained his friend over the years.?

Bill was a dedicated father who maintained a close relationship with all three of his children including his recently deceased daughter September. In addition to being a terrific father, Bill embraced his role as Grandfather to his five grandchildren: Zoe, Lennon, Lindsay, Alexa, and Lily. He attended countless dance recitals, hockey games, basketball practices, and many visits to Zoo Atlanta. Bill loved to take the three granddaughters to get mani-pedis at the local salon. All four of them would sit in chairs next to one another as they were being pampered.?

Besides being a reliable father and caring grandfather, Bill brought the same ethos and zest to his professional life. With his unparalleled work ethic, Bill climbed the corporate ladder working 18 years for IBM where he excelled in sales and management. He later managed all European and Asian copier sales operations out of his office in New York. Bill then moved to Atlanta and parted with IBM to pursue his dream of becoming a business owner.?

Founding Matteson Partners in 1987, Bill took great pride in placing professionals in high level jobs throughout the United States. Matteson Partners remains one of the most respected search firms in the Southeast.?

When not at the office, Bill was a dynamic athlete and fierce competitor playing at a high level in squash, tennis, bowling, and golf, well into his 70s. If he wasn't at work or on the court, you'd likely find Bill in front of the TV eating chili and watching his favorite NBA team, the Atlanta Hawks.?

A Celebration of Life in Bill's honor will be held at 4 pm on March 25th, 2023, at his daughter Michaeline and Ed Roland’s residence. More details will be forthcoming. If interested in attending, please email: [email protected].?

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, any donations on Bill's behalf be made to the Alzheimer's Association to help fight this devastating disease.?

Bill was the type of person you instantly liked the minute you met him. He had a huge smile and was always so pleasant to be around. He was one of the hardest working men I knew and dedicated his life to executive-level search. He loved working with clients and candidates; whom many times became a friend. We lost a truly great man, and he will always be remembered.
