Leaders Look Within –? Chapter 7 ?– Heavy Heart

In this Chapter, I saw a lot of things happen in a short period of time and my heart was heavy. My mom lost her battle with cancer. My father recovering from a serious fall and breaking his pelvis and how these events would forever shape me. What’s happening in my life right now? (October? 15, 2023)

It is a busy time of the year at Midwest Laboratories. We have large sample volumes coming in across all industries and we are making several key decisions to support day-to-day and to continue to build momentum for the future. I am reminded more and more how many people I know are facing tough situations in their lives and I continue to pray for their health, strength, and guidance. The weather is quickly turning cool and fall is in the air and it is a reminder of the beautiful seasons we get to experience.

Reflections for Chapter 7

What are you intentional about?

I write down my intentionality each day. Each day it changes, but starting with prayer it helps me show up as my best self to start the day. Example:? “Say hi to each client service staff member by calling them by name”

What values define who you are?

Love? - Love is God and everything starts with and continues to point to God.

Life is Precious – The gift of life comes from God. It is undeserved and it is so beautiful at every age. It is indeed a blessing we have been given and people should be respected and valued. Living a Life of Gratitude begins when we know what we have been given through love and life from God.

People First Mentality – What will it take for people to feel safe, know they are respected and what do they need to see success? ?For me, this means owning my own heart, confirming God’s place in my heart, and praying throughout the day to trust God’s plans. ?

Do you have a “Why” statement that defines you?

My why and how are “I am a person of Faith who Coaches People Up and Leads from the Heart”? - This is why I get up and I am excited and grateful for life each day.

Final Thoughts

I look at this chapter and the message of hope my mom gave me with “Celebrating Life” every day. Life is a blessing at any age, and I am so grateful to my mom for showing me the power of prayer and always celebrating life.
