Energy recovery wheels are commonly applied to HVAC systems with the intent of saving energy. Some believe that the addition of an energy recovery ventilator will protect the conditioned space from high humidity at part load.
In this video we look at an AC system with a rotary wheel heat exchanger and simulate space conditions at part load. ERV’s can be used to recover energy from the exhaust stream but do little to protect us from higher dew point levels at off peak conditions.
