Heat Printing onto Athleisure: The Youtube Series.

Athleisurewear is a hybrid style of athletic clothing typically worn as everyday wear. The Athleisure market is on track to be worth £6.7 billion over the next five years in the UK.

Athleisure, activewear, gymwear and loungewear is becoming one of the most popular revenue streams for garment decorators. With the average price of a hoodie between £5-10, a decoration £0.10-£0.50, and a sell price of £30-35, it's easy to see how profitable this industry can be.

That's why we've created Heat Printing onto Athleisure: The Youtube Series.

In this video series, we will be giving you everything you need to produce high-quality, successful, garments for your athleisure brand.

Printing Black and White 100% POLYESTER with NO SCORCH MARKS

Do you want to know how to heat print onto 100% polyester with no scorch marks?

In this video, Molly is joined by Lauren from TriDri who has brought a couple of their TR060 100% Polyester Tops to be decorated.

Using UltraColour Heat Transfers and a Hotronix Power Platen, they were able to heat apply decoration to these garments with ease. UltraColour fuses at a low temperature of 120 degrees, perfect for more sensitive garments such as 100% polyester. Combined with the Hotronix Power Platen (available in 4 sizes) which applies heat from the inside of the garment, completely eliminated any scorch marks and produced a high-quality, long-lasting athleisure garment.?

Printing Stretch HTV onto Cotton/Poly Sweatshirts (TriDri TR077)

In this video, Andy takes you through fusing Stahls' Premium Plus HTV onto the TriDri Cotton/Poly Sweatshirt using the Hotonix Auto Open.

We are using the TR077 from TriDri, half zipped sweatshirt. It's 60% Cotton, 40% Polyester, and at 280gsm it has a really premium finish to it. Providing that high-quality finish your customers are looking for. The Heat Transfer Vinyl used in this video is Stahls' Premium Plus.

This is the number one choice if you're heat printing onto athleisure because it has a four-way stretch, and it's available in 47 different colours. It gives you a semi-matt finish for a quality finish and works well across every product type. Andy is using the Hotronix Auto Open in today's video, making the most of the interchangeable platens feature to isolate the print area of the sweatshirt to avoid the seams and pockets whilst applying the decoration.

How To: Apply Custom Heat Transfers onto LEGGINGS

One of the most common questions we get around heat printing onto Athleisure, is leggings. Can it be done? How do I avoid scorch marks? Which is the best Heat Transfer to use?

In this video Andy from Stahls' UK and Lauren from TriDri are here to answer all of your questions and show you exactly how to fuse heat-applied decoration onto leggings.

Andy is using the Hotronix Power Platen today to ensure the majority of the heat required to apply the transfer is coming from the underneath of the garment. This helps to eliminate scorch marks from the top surface. It's always best practice to use either the Hotronix Air Fusion IQ or Dual Air Fusion IQ Heat Press with Power Platens, as the pressure is air controlled with these machines and 100% accurate, there is no chance of over-pressuring your power platen and the heated rods within.

UltraColour Heat Transfers are the perfect decoration method for athleisure products such as leggings because of their low fuse temperature of 120 degrees and the short fuse time of 12 seconds. Minimal time at a low temperature under the heat press will help eliminate scorch marks from sensitive fabrics such as polyester and elastane.
