A heartfelt letter to the Creamos Community

A heartfelt letter to the Creamos Community

When I reflect on this past year, I’m reminded of the importance of community in times of insecurity. Across Guatemala and within Creamos’ target community, this year has brought no shortage of uncertainties driven by political instability and community violence. These recent events have compounded decades of pervasive volatility, further complicating the local ecosystem and trajectory toward long-awaited stability. Each day, the Creamos team strives to counteract these challenges by acting as a source of consistency and centering participant well-being above all. We are grateful that we’re not walking this road alone. A testament to the strength of Creamos’ vast network, the past year has been our most meaningful yet.

Number of participants: 552 women and 58 men

have walked through our doors in pursuit of safer and healthier futures.

One hundred and fifty-five individuals participated in our rigorous vocational training programs, and 82 were hired into the formal sector as baristas, chefs, computer programmers, and construction workers.

Fifty-eight adult learners successfully completed their respective grade level, and our clinicians increased the number of participants receiving individual therapy by 20%. As their parents were engaged in these services, a staggering 266 children received early learning support through our free childcare program.

These achievements would not have come to fruition without the tireless work of one undersung pillar of our team. Though rarely recognized publicly, Creamos’ Operations Department works unremittingly behind the scenes to make program execution appear seamless. This includes our security staff, who are constantly assessing external risk and anticipating potential conflict; our cleaning staff, who mitigate our exposure to environmental toxicity and solve frequent water shortages; and other team members who oversee IT, make sure that our teachers never run out of materials, ensure a steady flow of fabric into the mi eelo workshop, and so much more. Their impact expands far beyond any tangible statistic, and the consistency that they bring to the workplace contributes to the sense of warmth and safety that emanates throughout Creamos’ space.

This year, we invite you to challenge this outdated fundraising dynamic by making a gift in direct support of Creamos’ Operations Department towards our goal of raising $50,000 between today and the end of the calendar year. Supporting this shift is one of the most valued ways to join Creamos and nonprofits all over the world in carrying out their missions with transparency and authenticity.

Help us reach our goal
