We Find The People Who Are Able To Create The Most Change And Give Them What They Need To Do. Our ethos is Big Change Happens in Small Moments
Heart of Stella Foundation is an independent registered Non-Profit Organisation that aims to help vulnerable moms, children and babies in need in South Africa.
Our vision for Heart of Stella Foundation is to release mothers, children and babies from poverty and abuse.
Heart of Stella Foundation is registered as a Non-Profit Organisation 2022/491595/08. Heart of Stella Foundation support two main functions: Firstly, we have an unshakeable passion to assist and empower moms and babies in need during the first few weeks of motherhood and infancy, with the ultimate aim of placing value and dignity on mothers during one of the most vulnerable times of her life. Secondly, we aim to redistribute some of the goods we receive to children removed from abusive homes to provide them some comfort in a scary and unsettling time.
Heart of Stella Foundation believes that there are five essential asset areas—basic necessities; health, psycho-education and training, food security, community involvement and empowerment—that are vital for individual and family success on the path out of poverty.
Through a holistic approach to child development, we carefully blend physical, social, economic and spiritual care together. We are catalysts for community change, optimizing the mutual respect, resources and common purpose critical in caring for children. Our contribution to the community aim to deliver the whole-life care that they most need. Whole-life care is not care for an entire life. Whole-life care is holistic care — comprehensive care — to help babies and children fully develop and become responsible and fulfilled adults. Whole-life care means we begin, in some cases, with prenatal care and go all the way through young adulthood. It means we take a long-term approach to child development and provide opportunities that encourage healthy spiritual, physical, social and economic development.
Our approach to child protection begins with preventing abuse whenever possible It is based on several strongly held convictions.
- No violence or neglect against children is justifiable.
- Violence and neglect against children is preventable.
- It's EVERYONE’s job and civic duty to protect children.
We commit to protecting the children in our programs from all forms of abuse and exploitation, to intervene quickly and to seek restoration and healing for children affected by abuse and we believe it's important to uphold the dignity of the poor. We commit to handle the issue of poverty in people's lives with respect and to portray the poor in ways that express their need while maintaining their dignity.
- We commit to helping mothers, children and babies in the poor communities improve their lives and achieve lasting victories over poverty and abuse. Founded to provide relief for the marginalized and the underprivileged communities. We see Heart of Stella Foundation quickly becoming a trusted vessel to holistically address immediate and long-term needs while making concrete steps towards realizing greater dreams and aspirations.
- Our function at Heart of Stella Foundation Is To Connect You With Those Who Are Creating Real Change In Our Communities So That Together We Can Achieve More.
- Non-Profits In South Africa Have A Problem
- They are tackling the basic needs of the poor and forgotten, the abused and afflicted. They have identified their community’s needs.
- Some of them have developed solutions that work. And they know how to deliver them. But they often lack the investment and encouragement to create real change at scale.
- Donors like you know that South Africa suffers from the most severe inequality in the world. Whether it’s measured by wealth, access to education, healthcare or food, South Africa is the most unequal society on the planet. You want to make a contribution and leave a legacy to see a brighter future for everyone in our community.
- You are compassionate and want to make South Africa a better place. You know you have been blessed to be a blessing. But you’re not sure which organizations you can trust to create real change. You’re tired of giving to non-credible black holes that over-promise and under-deliver.
- Driven by our desire to promote the power of philanthropy that, businesses and individuals can unlock when they work together, we find and fund registered, our partners doing the most good. Along the way we carefully monitor your investment, and follow-up to see the impact made.
- We bring together the best efforts of businesses and individuals to fund and strengthen organizations working on proven solutions to poverty, abuse and vulnerability.
- We fund impact. We don’t invest in organizations that don’t measure impact rigorously. From the moment we collaborate with an organization, we start gathering data to understand whether impact is being made.
- We fund results. Our job is to make sure that our partners are positioned to solve an urgent problem and can achieve their mission. We give them what they need to do what they do best through support, commitment, funding, donations and involvement.
- We fund for the long term. If we see the projects is working, we don’t abandon it. We become a sustaining partner for organizations who are proving they can solve a problem efficiently, effectively and at scale.
We bring more than funding and donations to the table. We help under-resourced organizations grow in their administration, visibility, man-power and offerings.
We look for organizations that are tackling an urgent problem, have a proven solution and are committed to grow and measure their impact.
We look for 3 core attributes in a partner:
- They must be tackling the needs of the very poor, abused and vulnerable. Each partner is working on a solution to a problem affecting South African women, children and babies that are living in extreme poverty, abuse or vulnerability. Our priorities are women, children and babies, health, education and economic empowerment.
- They must have a proven and scalable solution. We are only interested in solutions that can grow exponentially with our — with your — help. The organizations we choose to fund have designed their work to help the most people possible in the most effective way.
- They must be able to deliver results. We’ll help them get there, but each partner needs to prove that they can deliver on the outcomes we support. That means having the right people, a smart strategy and the grit to see it all through.
Most babies here are born into joyful and secure homes and celebrated with gifts. Moms are properly equipped with the basic necessities to care for their babies. Sadly, there are precious mothers with newborns who find themselves alone, and/or in very fragile financial circumstances. Instead of bright hope for their future, these moms are often fearful and in despair over whether they will have the basic necessities for their child. Their babies survive but not necessarily thrive, and no baby deserves to just survive.
