Heart of the Park Brings World-class Amenities to the Great Park

Imagine a place where you can gather with friends and family...listen to a concert...relax...play...all while being surrounded by lush trees and lakes. Sound like a fantasy? We are working on making it a reality.

It’s part of the vision for the Heart of the Park, the next chapter of development within the Great Park Framework Plan. Spanning nearly 200 acres, it will be instrumental in securing the park's place as one of the greatest metropolitan parks in the world.

Join us Tuesday, September 17, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Great Park for our Heart of the Park Showcase to learn more about these world-class amenities coming to the park:

  • Grand Promenade: The Grand Promenade will be the entryway to the Great Park, setting the tone for the park experience. The Grand Promenade will feature a tree-lined path that creates a scenic and inviting atmosphere, leading visitors toward the attractions of the park, such as the Great Meadow, lakes and gardens, and cultural landmarks.
  • Amphitheater: City staff is working to carefully curate an 8,000-10,000-seat amphitheater that will incorporate the best of the best in community performances and entertainment. The journey to the permanent amphitheater at the Great Park involves staff visits and studies of the most iconic amphitheaters in the country to create a five-star venue attractive to visitors, performers, and promoters.
  • Full Circle Farm: The Full Circle Farm at the Great Park will bring the agricultural wonders of the world to life as a community-based asset and amenity. As part of the next phase of development, the Full Circle Farm has the potential to house more than 200 commercial varieties of plants, as well as offer a site for unique farm-to-table dining and programming opportunities for our residents and visitors.
  • Great Meadow: The Great Meadow will serve the community in a variety of ways. It is an open space for families to gather, relax, play, and connect. Surrounded by lush trees and placed near the North and South Lake, the Great Meadow will offer endless possibilities.
  • North Lake: The North Lake enchants with its expansive waters reflecting the azure skies above, creating a mirror-like surface that invites leisurely strolls along its shores. Lush greenery lines the banks, offering shaded retreats where visitors can relax and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding parkland. The lake's design incorporates sustainable features, such as eco-friendly water management systems and native plant habitats, fostering a thriving ecosystem that attracts local wildlife.
  • South Lake: The South Lake beckons with its own allure, characterized by a more intimate setting amidst rolling hills and verdant meadows. Here, winding pathways and boardwalks lead visitors on exploratory journeys along the water's edge, offering glimpses of aquatic life and tranquil vistas framed by swaying reeds and gentle breezes.
  • Timeline Bridge: The Timeline Bridge will feature the history of the Great Park and former Marine Corps El Toro Marine base stamped onto the walkway. Visitors can journey through time as they envision the land’s past and the legacy that has propelled the park forward. The Timeline Bridge will lead visitors to the North and South Lakes in the Heart of the Park and provide ample accessibility to reach all the features of the park.

The Heart of the Park is located in the center of the Great Park.

The Heart of the Park Showcase will take place adjacent to Parking Lot 8 at the Great Park. The event will be held on unpaved terrain, and attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes suitable for the conditions. Parking is available in Lot 8, located off Skyhawk and Great Park Boulevard, next to Wild Rivers.

As a land surveyor, an Irvine High alumni, and long-time resident of Irvine, I would love to be a part of this development.
