Heart Intelligence

This week I take a deep dive on heart intelligence, explore a simple way to inspire your team, and drop a LOT of podcasts I’ve been saving over the last month.

A quick personal note…Sadly, Ashlynne’s mom (my MIL) passed away at the beginning of April after a four year cancer diagnosis and I took time away from this newsletter in the aftermath of that.

If you’re reading this, thanks for being here and I hope one of the content recommendations below brings value to you or makes you consider something new this week.

A simple way to inspire your team

We’ve all sat through corporate presentations on mission, vision, and values. Often times, these well meaning rah-rah meetings don’t really resonate. It either feels too detached or we can’t quite connect our individual contributions to the whole—especially in larger organizations. Enter David Butkus’ TED talk. In summation, he wants you to save every “thank you”, every story, and every positive moment someone has with your company. What your company really needs to inspire the team are powerful, spreadable stories about how the work everyone is doing actually matters to real people, in and out of the building. Listen to this episode for practical ways you can align people on a shared

This week’s picks

Deep Dive?

How to manage stress and change habits by activating your heart’s intelligence Everyday Better

Deborah Rozman Ph.D. joins Leah Smart in this fascinating episode that explores how your heart is more intelligent than you may think.

Dr. Rozman is the Founding Executive Director of HeartMath Institute, a nonprofit research organization that helps people understand and recognize intuitive insight and heart intelligence.

I could give you pull quotes and more anecdotes about why you need to listen to this podcast. But I’ll stop short and just simply say: please listen to this podcast episode soon. It is very fascinating and I believe you’ll come away with a new appreciation for your heart and it’s function in your body. It connects our intuitive knowledge with scientific research in a compelling way.
