The heart of a frustrated Nigerian.
Oladele Dosunmu
Passionate about seeing the Alkebulan of my dream emerge. I am unapologetically African. We are building the Emerging Alkebulan. Titles don't matter. Disrupting the status quo. Thought provoker. Pan African to the core.
Nigeria is very behind in terms of it's development, and we're not getting there any time soon. You know why ? We have the wrong people in leadership.
I love late Myles Monroe's definition of leadership: He said Leadership is the capacity to influence others through inspiration, generated by a passion, motivated by a vision, birthed from a conviction, produced by a purpose. This I can't see in Nigeria at the moment. And please don't be partisan about this, it's not about APC or PDP. Its simply because we have a clueless and vision-less people in position of authority. I don't wanna be pessimistic but another four years is going to waste, a lot of destinies are going to filter away wasted.
We the people have to take things in our own hands and do something unique. Get rid of mediocrity and vote for a future and a country that we can all be proud of. A country where we want to come back to and not run away from. Our own mindset and thinking needs to change. Where every citizen is uncompromising in their values, standing up for what's right. If we all do our part without cutting corners and not being self centred we will have the Nigeria of our dreams. A country where ethnicity is not an issue, one where compassion for humanity and the dignity of the people is a priority over everything else.
This is the Nigeria I dream about, but every day every report or situation in the country just makes me angry and frustrated. We are fearfully and wonderfully made in God's image, the biggest black country on earth. We are kings and queens but unfortunately we don't act it, we don't show it, we don't carry ourselves like royalty.
Can the real Nigerians stand up, let's make ourselves proud of the only country God gave us. You can run away, live abroad, explore the world but you know what, no place like home. The moment you hit that Naija soil there is that magic in the air that makes you feel, yeah I am home. We need to create country where no one can talk down on the black race any more. The moment Nigeria rises up to its responsibility our narrative around the globe will change.
It's time for a change, like I always hear people tell me, talk is cheap, it's time for action. "Evil flourishes when good men and women sit back and do nothing".

5 年I’ve said it time and time again. This is a grassroots issue. Forget the leaders. With unity, solidarity and building towards economic power we the people can bring the change we really want. Personally I’m fed up with story lines & figureheads. Let’s work towards the difference. It’s tiny ripple that make the wave. And whilst it may take time, the vision is very possible

5 年Oladele Dosunmu I cant help but agree with the simplicity of your analysis and what needs to change for REAL CHANGE to happen in Nigeria!!! It will take more than bravery and guts to shift the mindsets though. It will require robust institutions, processes and self correcting protocols for it to manifest. I remain hopeful; willingly suspending my disbelief!!!
