CAREER STORY OF FUNMILAYO OMOWUMI LOREMIKAN

I am the Head of SERVICOM Department in Calabar Port of Nigerian Ports Authority and I joined the organization in 1994 as a Marketing Officer a year after my youth service in Rivers Port Port Harcourt, where I got an award as one of the two outstanding corpers for 1991/1992 set in Rivers Port, Port Harcourt.

From the onset, I displayed unique skills as a hardworking, intelligent, resourceful, confident, reliable, transparent, bold, honest and problem solving employee of the organization. My passion have always been to contribute my quota to the success and achievement of NPA goals of becoming the leading port in Africa.

In 2002, I received an award as employee of the month from the Management of Apapa Port Complex for dedication, integrity, customer service and problem solving skills that I displayed on the job.

In 2008 I became the Personal Assistant to the Port Manager of Apapa Port between April 2008 to March 2010.

I served in various committees on Revenue Generation, Prevention of Revenue Leakage, Prevention of Corruption and Sharp Practices in the Port and so on.

Being a member of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport gave me opportunities which enabled me to acquire knowledge and professional skills in current logistics, transport, and supply chain management. Access to electronic and paper based materials helped to be an outstanding performer in my organization amongst my peers and other professionals in the maritime sector.I am a role model and mentor to the young members of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
