“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” – Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)
In the hustle of work—projects to manage, meetings to attend, and deadlines pressing—it’s easy to push God’s voice aside. Yet, as leaders driven by purpose, hearing God while we work is essential. It’s what transforms decision-making and creates an atmosphere charged with divine insight.
Think about Nehemiah, the cupbearer turned leader who rebuilt Jerusalem’s walls. In Nehemiah 1-2, he didn’t act impulsively when he heard about the city’s ruins. Instead, he fasted, prayed, and listened for God’s direction. Even as he led the massive rebuilding project, Nehemiah continually sought God’s guidance amid opposition and exhaustion. His willingness to pause and seek God’s voice turned what could have been an overwhelming task into a divine mission filled with success and purpose.
How can we apply this to our work? Begin by anchoring your day with moments of stillness. Before responding to an email or tackling a project, pause and ask, “Lord, what would You have me do?” The Holy Spirit’s direction often comes with clarity and peace, empowering us to act confidently.
Your work isn’t just about tasks; it’s an extension of kingdom influence. When you invite God’s voice into your work, it transforms the mundane into meaningful, purpose-driven action.
Confession: “I declare that my work is an offering to God. I will pause to hear His voice in my decisions and actions. I am guided by the Holy Spirit, and my steps are ordered by Him. I do not operate in my strength alone, but I am empowered by God's wisdom and grace. Today, I choose to work with purpose, excellence, and a heart tuned to the whispers of God. Amen.”
As you lead this week, lean in, listen, and let your work reflect divine direction. You don’t work alone—you work with God by your side.
