I’m running mega late today. I finally have a brand-new couch being delivered at this very moment, the couch is so innovative that the delivery and set up company thought they shipped the wrong thing.? After arguing with them, their dispatcher and the company I ordered from all morning and watching 20 assembly videos, it’s finally being assembled. Why do I do these things to myself? Because I have a problem. I am the girl that always wants what no one else has yet. And to say that the cool new things I order almost never works out smoothly is an understatement – but when we finally figure it out, it’s extra fulfilling. What is the key word of this story? Innovative.
?In·no·va·tive adjective
(of a product, idea, etc.) featuring new methods; advanced and original. "innovative designs"
(of a person) introducing new ideas; original and creative in thinking. "an innovative thinker"
The Port X Logistics founder BK and the Leadership team started Port X Logistics because we are creative thinkers, we wanted a brand that represented the innovative idea of doing it differently and doing it better. A brand that changed the industry’s way of handling Drayage, Transloading and Trucking by having high tech tracking and elite customer service. We market ourselves as the “cool kids” and funny enough each one of us on the leadership team has a personal love for innovative brands. My couch is almost finished. I offered Liquid Death water to the guys setting up the couch and they looked at me funny like I was giving them adult beverages. Nothing I have is normal, Welcome to my house.

Speaking of transloads and warm welcomes – Our very own Port X Logistics Denver brand ambassador Charlie Bodine welcomes Coach Prime to his home alma mater University of Co Boulder .? Yes we have an operation in Denver AND we do more than just drayage. We have a warehouse for cross docking, distribution, short term storage, container yard storage and we have our own DRY VANS running in Colorado – we will keep the “Black and Gold” standard in Colorado right alongside the Buffs.?
The International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) has reached a tentative agreement with the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) on “certain key issues”. The parties released the news today as talks are still ongoing until an agreement is finalized. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the terms of the tentative agreements while the negotiations continue. The parties are regularly meeting in San Francisco to continue negotiating the collective bargaining agreement, and both remain committed to reaching an agreement according to their recent joint statement. I wish the best for both sides, but also if a strike goes down… you know who to call when congestion gets out of hand!
Guess what? Import TEU volume is up 9.547% this week – almost a full 10%! Some ocean carriers are preparing for a rebound in U.S. Import demand. Summer is coming which means the seasonal shipping months of August and September will likely spike imports as well. Super exciting news! I have an overpriced couch to pay for. Don’t forget - We brought back our "NO DEMURRAGE GUARANTEE” for import shipments picked up from all coastal ports. If you’re able to send us your work orders at least 5 days prior to the vessel arrival and the container is cleared of all holds upon release, we are guaranteeing that there will be NO DEMURRAGE charges back to you. AND chances are if we get your orders sooner than that, we’ll still be able to get all shipments out within free time!
What’s happening at the ports and rails?:?
You can find all the information on the below link where we cover port congestion, chassis issues and capacity lead times weekly at all U.S. and Canada Ports and rail heads
Highlight:
Savannah: There are no chassis shortages or congestion issues in sight, and we have capacity!
There is only 1 vessel at anchor and 5 on the way before the weekend, so you shouldn't expect any delays there either. The Port of Savannah will soon be adding 55 hybrid yard cranes to promote reduced emissions. The port suggests this investment will increase their overall capacity while also reducing fuel consumption by an estimated 47%. [email protected]
Houston: The ports are running smoothly with the occasional exception of delayed crane operations. Drivers are having to wait 1+ hour to pick up containers at times, we suggest you plan accordingly.
Chassis are an issue but not in the sense of a shortage – there are simply too many chassis in Houston. As a result, the port has not been accepting them back, so we’ve been having to send drivers to other locations to return/release them.? Currently there are 2 vessels at anchor with 10 more set to arrive before the weekend.
Cleveland/Columbus Rails: Congestion has dissipated, and chassis depots are accepting chassis back.? Very little wait time and capacity is abundant at all hubs
Did you know?? We can do it ALL in Chicago! Not only do we have an abundance of capacity, chassis, and yard space, we can also pull off the unheard of. We can transload anything from steel coils to heavy machinery and we are the hazmat experts. Intrigued? Let us tell you more about it. Have a Chicago emergency?? We can get your containers rolling today. No project too big or too small email our Chicago team Danny D and Jill Rice at [email protected]
