Healthy Team, Happy Workplace: 2023 Corporate Wellness Trends

In 2023, I predict that more companies in Northeast Ohio will embrace Corporate Wellness programs not only as a trend but as an actual step towards supporting their employees physically and mentally, creating a work-life balance that will ultimately benefit both the employees and the company.

Corporate Wellness programs are continuing to be top priority and increasingly more important as businesses recognize the importance of employee health and well-being in order to create a culture of wellness versus a culture of busyness, attract top talent and retain employees.

In 2023, there are three trends that are expected to dominate the corporate wellness landscape:

Vision: Integrate Wellness as a Mission Statement

When companies integrate employee wellness into their mission statements and core values, they can create a culture of wellness that helps to engage and motivate their workforce and demonstrate their commitment to creating a workplace culture. Incorporating a vision statement into a company's mission can help inspire employees and attract customers who share the same values.?

According to a survey by WTW , companies with strong cultures of health have an average turnover rate of only 6%, compared to the national average of 18%.

Movement: 1-on-1 Personal Training // Small Group Training

Employees are seeking more guidance and support for their fitness and wellness goals after developing unhealthy habits during the pandemic, noted Ann Wyatt in a recent Wellness Trends in 2023 article, and it is leading to a surge in customized wellness services such as personal training and smaller group trainings.

But it's not just physical workouts they're after. They want a more holistic approach to their health, including personalized coaching for nutrition , stress management, improving sleep habits .

As corporate wellness continues to shift and change, I anticipate that the trend of offering personalized wellness programs such as personal training and small group training will continue to persist in the corporate world. These types of training sessions create environments that give employees a more tailored approach through coaching so they don't have to go at it alone and confused. With the use of wearables it also allows employees to access personalized data, leading them to search for more customized workouts for improved efficiency and daily results monitoring. Companies that provide personal training or small group training for their employees can benefit in several ways such as;

  • Improved employee morale
  • More energized employees
  • Mental health increased
  • Job satisfaction
  • Retention
  • Can lower health care costs
  • Increasing employee productivity
  • More collaboration between teams

Corporate Wellness Tip: Offering yoga class, meditation for beginners courses, collaborative workout videos, or customized fitness training can help foster a sense of community and team-building among employees, which can improve overall team dynamics and customer relations.

A study by the International Journal of Workplace Health Management found that employees who participated in a workplace exercise program experienced a 22% reduction in stress and a 20% increase in productivity.

A healthy and happy win for everyone involved ????

Growth Mindset Together

Mindset coaching will be more of a focus individually, and in teams that work and collaborate.

According to a study by the Center for Creative Leadership , coaching can improve emotional intelligence, with 77% of participants reporting increased self-awareness and 67% reporting improved relationships with colleagues

Prioritizing employee mental wellness and offering Life Coaching through growth mindset skill training can have numerous benefits for both the company and its employees. This includes improving team-building skills, team collaborations, building resilience , and improving communication skills.

About 75% of employers rate?teamwork and collaboration ?as “very important”

Offering individual coaching or small group coaching can cultivate a feeling of teamwork, community and encouragement within employees, ultimately decreasing the likelihood of working in silos.

With the support and guidance of a coach, employees can learn to recognize their strengths and weaknesses, and develop strategies for managing their emotions in challenging situations and create workplace wins.

In a survey done by Fierce Conversations , 86% of employees say that poor collaboration and a lack of communication are the main causes of workplace failures.
