Healthy Gaming = Movement
Ubisoft's recent announcement reveals their collaboration with the mental wellness charity, "Safe in Our World", in the creation of the Good Guide Playbook. This resource is a step in the right direction.... in protecting gamers from various forms of online and in-game toxicity. While all initiatives like this are good... In-game toxicity is less a problem than the big elephant in the room - obesity. We see very few initiatives towards Heathy Gaming.
YayPal has decided to combine the power of Mobile Gaming with Movement, gamifying the process - giving out rewards in the form of a crypto token $ACTIVE ...the problem was there were no good tools/platforms for combining Virtual Reality (VR) and the Blockchain that made a good user experience for gamers. Now we are marking that platform (Fusion) and sharing it with other Web 3.0 games studios and publishers.
Last year a report from the World Health Organisation estimated that our contemporary sedentary lifestyle was responsible for the increase of heart disease, obesity, diabetes or other noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). It was estimated that around 500 million people have or will developed these diseases due to inactivity, between 2020 and 2030, costing global health systems US$ 27 billion annually.
Movement gets conflated with fitness unfortunately. Our mission is longevity, happiness, and health – we’re not training athletes for the Boston marathon, we want a healthier society for all especially gamers… and that means for us..."movement within games".
