Healthy Blue and Youth In Need pioneer new pathways to housing stability: Innovation In Philanthropy Winner

More than seventy teens and young adults transitioning out of foster care, residential programs and homelessness in the St. Louis area have found stable housing through an innovative partnership that helps at-risk youth connect with landlords and kickstart the rental process. Nonprofit child and family services agency Youth In Need partnered with Healthy Blue, a Medicaid-managed care organization, to launch the Landlord Engagement Program in 2023. “Typically, there is not a stable inventory of affordable housing units that are accessible to households experiencing or at-risk of homelessness,” Jeff Davis, president of Healthy Blue, said. “We know the social drivers of health, including homelessness, affordable housing, and a safe, stable, social and physical environment, continue to be barriers to positive health outcomes and overall wellness." https://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/news/2024/04/11/corporate-philanthropy-2024-healthy-blue-youth-in.html
