Allergy Tips

To avoid allergy problems, make sure to:

  • Keep windows closed at home and in the car
  • Avoid going out during peak pollen counts
  • Change clothes once you return home.

Non-prescription nasal sprays can alleviate symptoms, but they may take some time to take effect.

Immunotherapies in the form of shots and oral drops can assist young children and individuals managing multiple allergy medications. These treatments aim to desensitize the immune system to allergens, addressing symptoms at their core.

Cancer-causing chemical found in popular acne products

Several acne treatment products, such as Clearasil, Proactiv, and Clinique, have been discovered to contain a "dangerously high" amount of the carcinogenic compound benzene, as reported by an independent laboratory.

Valisure, a company based in Connecticut, released a statement indicating that it discovered chemical levels exceeding the regulatory limit by 800 times during an independent study.

Valisure stated that the elevated levels result from benzoyl peroxide breaking down into benzene over time when mixed with other components in the medication, and not from any contamination.

Valisure has petitioned the Food and Drug Administration to recall these products.

CDC drops 5-day isolation time for COVID-19

U.S. health officials have announced that Americans who test positive for COVID-19 no longer need to isolate for five days.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have revised their long-standing advice, stating that individuals can resume work or normal activities if their symptoms are mild and improving, and they have been fever-free for at least a day.

The shift occurs as COVID-19 fell from being the nation's third leading cause of death in the early stages of the pandemic to tenth place last year.
