Healthcare is local - Rural Critical Access Nurses Step Up to Challenges to Connect Patients and Families
Shout out to the nurses at Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz, Kentucky. Director of Nursing, @Frieda Smiley can’t even narrow the list down of nurses who have stepped up to find creative ways to help their patients during this COVID-challenge. The team has always been strong and cohesive and they are looking forward to bringing back the nurses that have been temporarily furloughed now that surgeries have commenced again as volumes start to pick up.
One of the many nursing highlight shout-outs go to the five nurse practitioners in their rural health clinics who have been doing the drive through clinic taking care of patients. All of them have family and have never missed an opportunity to assist patients in need with the loving care they deserve.
Nurses in the hospital have been able to get their patients to first floor windows to allow patient family members to see and connect with each other, bringing many smiles to their patients and families. And when weather permits, they’ve managed to connect a family outside with proper social distancing and some ice cream.
Thank you, Frieda, for all the sacrifices you and your team make to nurse your patients back to better health! Nurses in rural critical access hospitals give new meaning to caring for their communities and it is appreciated!
