Health & Wellbeing

Hello world, and welcome to the first edition of the Peril Dispatch. No we are not just riffing on the name of a recent Wes Anderson feature film, what would give you that idea. Here in the Peril Dispatch we will talk about and share all things 2D character animation, illustration and design. We hope to take you behind the scenes of our past and our present, as well as celebrating some of our favourite animation picks.

In our first dispatch we wanted to celebrate the recent addition to our website (perisistentperil.com - give it a visit if you haven't already), our Health and Wellbeing tab. This showcases some of the 2D animations for health, wellbeing and pharmaceutical brands we've made over our twelve years and counting. Projects have ranged from clinical trials, white label work, social films and presentations.

Like a fine vintage wine, 'The Vitals', is, shall we say, one of the most mature project on our Health and Wellbeing tab. This was part of the NHS Waste or Save campaign, made with the wonderful team at 23red. This rag tag group of organs (illustrated by the excellent Jack Cant) suffer lightning strikes, wrecking balls, cliff edges and volcanos, bring humour to the serious issue of wasted organs.?Across the project we adapted existing characters, provided storyboards and animatics, as well as the animation production. Sound was by the always superb?James Locke-Hart. We delivered 7 x GIFs for each Vital, 1 x?hero edit, and assets for the interactive version.

Dance Battle was an online fundraising campaign for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We were honoured to help tell the story of of Elizabeth Garcia,?a 9?year old leukaemia survivor depicting her fight against leukaemia as a dance battle.

Made with the amazing IGNITE?team at McCann Health London, the animation was brought to life with wonderful sound by James Locke-Hart (him again!),?and?a bespoke track created by The Salt House Studio. We provided designs, storyboards and animatics, animation production and direction, and delivered the final hero animation across a tight schedule. We couldn't have been happier with the outcome.?

Here's some animation roughs of Elizabeth's wonderful dance moves.

Produced by Jelly London for Ogilvy Paris 'United for Healthier?Kids: Behavioural Nutrition' featured geometric fruit, towering burgers and a tiny seed. ??????

It was great fun passing the animation baton back and forth creating the fun transitions. Focusing on crisp shapes, a bold limited colour palette, and playful transitions, we used 2D frame by frame animation to bring life and character to the script.?We delivered the hero edit alongside looping GIFs, and provided style development and design, storyboarding and animatics, animation production and creative direction on this one.

Head on over to our website to discover more 2D character animation for health and wellbeing, as well as many many other projects, from short films, adverts, animated social content, and much much more.

The Peril Dispatch will be back very soon, where we hope to explore all things animatic, some think pieces, short films, adverts and who knows what else. Hold on to your butts...
