HEALTH IS WEALTH for OFW Vacationists
by : Me
I'm Back!!! After 45days of my vacation now I'm back to get share my inner thoughts about everything I do especially in a professional aspect of being an overseas worker abroad.
Here's my 15mins written article about a short experience and realization I had during my vacation. Well... first and foremost, I enjoyed it!
I was so happy when I finished my 2nd year working abroad and oh my god! I realized that 2 years passed by so quickly and I came back to the Philippines with amazement that time really works really fast and as they said.... "Time is expensive". Indeed a very expensive thoughts of fixing schedule based on a limited acquired for yourself, family, friends, travelling and more in a very short period of time.
On my first week of my vacation, I experienced sickness because I never realized that after staying in the Philippines from 2017 - 2022, my body already adopted to the Middle East weather and that changed everything when I took my vacation.
Since i already raised this topic about illness, I realized that when you get back to your motherland, try your best to have a full body check-up and see from there on how you will once again adjust your life when you get back abroad. One big reason why I decided to go back home is for my teeth to fix. Yes!!! I really have to wait months just to let Filipino dentist touch my teeth because I know and I'm used to it (cultural ideology) that I better do it with my Filipino Dentist rather that doing it abroad. Well... aside from expensive abroad, I give my full trust to my people to assure my safety and health accordingly.
Two of my teeth was removed and I made sure that stains, tooth decays and gums are properly taken care of because I want to make sure that when I get back I can positively and confidently communicate without the thought of bad breathe. I did that a week after my arrival and a day before I flew back abroad.
Secondly, I visited a family clinic for my body check-up since my first week was not so healthy at all. Because of that, I decided and told to the Doctor to fully scan/check-up my blood and urine for me to understand the problem I am encountering and the problem I might encounter in the future. And Yes!!!! Believe me when I said that it was expensive, from laboratory, check-up, follow-up and medicine.
I felt that most of the money I've got was used for this matter and if I regret it????
No... I dont, It was an eye-opener for my family, for me and for my future. Yes! I have to follow the doctor's order in order for me to live more. In order for me to function more. In order for me to dream more. I have to do it not only for myself but for my love-ones because it might worry them if something really bad happen to me.
So, to end this article, I will definitely advice OFW friends, colleagues and family that once you get home and if you have enough, try your best to visit the nearest family clinic, hospitals or Dental clinic for you to have an understanding of your body's function. By this, you were be able to monitor yourself and understand yourself rather than it's too late for you especially that most often, OFW eat fried, oily, salty and unhealthy food abroad.
I know that most of us ignore this advice from people around us, but then, consider this as you have more time in your motherland with your family, friends and travel plans. Make sure that if you wish to come back abroad, be healthy as you can be. Also, find time to do some exercises, work-out or gym exercise in order for you to have a well-physique and healthy body while you are home!.
