'I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul" William Ernest Henley
The grave of William Ernest Henley is not far from where I live, and for reasons I won't go into I was able to visit his grave fairly recently, and naturally, it started me thinking of these last words from his great poem Invictus.
Such profound words are frequently quoted, often studied, and perhaps rarely fully understood.
In my thoughts, these words give us the freedom to be so radically different, to genuinely control our lives and dictate the path we follow.
I talk to business leaders on subjects like how to turn. your annual income into a monthly income, whilst remaining healthy at the same time, and the science behind Henry Ford's quote 'Whether you think you can or you think you can't you are right', ideas so far removed from most people's psyche that they almost seem pure fantasy.
I have recently published a book talking on the 'Law of Possession' a concept that embraces the idea that we are not broken and we are already in possession of everything we need and want. Again this idea is constantly challenged, so entrenched in the idea we need 'to get' that it can at times seem impossible to break free and entertain other ideas that do not fit into the status quo.
So how do we embrace the fiber of Henley's famous line, how do we Captain our own soul?
The first thing in my opinion, as I often say other opinions are available, is the fact that we now have generations of people who have been almost institutionalized into a certain way of thinking, a certain way of viewing the world, and a certain way of analyzing the information we receive.
Any idea of Captaining our soul in a way that is different from the 'status quo' is often ridiculed and frowned upon.

We are great fence sitters saying things like 'I will see how this pans out before I make a decision'.
One of our businesses is a health technology that is reversing diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's disease, and even cancer. Things that seem unreal or far-fetched but are true and we have 100's of thousands of testimonies of people who took the jump and accepted the role of Captaining their own souls and lives. The technology a patented technology that triggers our own stem cells, radical, different, and powerful stuff.
The challenges we often get are along the lines of if it were true why do the doctors not tell us about it?
We never get into the discussion as to why doctors do not tell us because, in all honesty, there are too many reasons and unknowns, all we can do is introduce them to the people who have been cured and their doctors who can confirm they have been cured.

It seems only at the point of total desperation do people want to ignore the status quo and step into the role of Captaining their souls. We have people say their partners or friends, are on death door the doctors have nothing else to give or say apart from sending them home to die or the like. At this point, the mantle is lifted and the Captain steps forward, sometimes too late, sometimes not.
However we do not need to wait until desperation knocks on our door, Henley clearly intimates we have a choice, and it is a choice to be curious to at least explore an alternative way. Sometimes it is only a matter of of getting information to at least explore a new concept, yet for many even that is a step too far, for fear that we might be ensnared in something untoward.
So to conclude, we were designed to be the masters of our destiny, to captain our own souls, not necessarily in isolation but with the support of like-minded souls captains, and crew who have dared to venture onto new paths. Those who are prepared to step out to challenge the status quo, and reap the benefits that often follow, whether that be in business or health.
