Health Tourism as a model of EXPERIENCE ECONOMY
Asaad Riad, MD, PAHM?, MHP

The?Experience Economy?is the sale of memorable experiences to customers. The term was first used in a 1998 article by?B. Joseph Pine II?and?James H. Gilmore?describing the next economy following the?agrarian economy, the?industrial economy, service economy and the most recent "Attention economy" that we will discuss later.
As we are approaching to build the "Brand" of any destination for Health Tourism, medical or wellness. I would like to emphasize that health tourism is not a medical business in the first level but a pure economical project which depends on medical and wellness services and products as its main value.
As your client - in most cases - is not a healthcare professional and his knowledge about medical issues are limited, it remains more important to focus on his non-medical experience he got during his 360 degree cycle in dealing with you. Either you are a medical provider, wellness or rehabilitation centre, spa, hotel ... etc.
. Client/Patient will not discuss the medical devices you have or surgery technique you will use. He will collect his experience with all touch points he will face when START approaching you:

REMEMBER: You are not the only doctor or healthcare facility and you are competing with well established markets.
Unfortunately, the most of the experiences the customer get are out of your control, your country, airport, streets, people, language, food ...etc BUT what is under your control you SHOULD control.
