October 2022: Building Better Healthcare, Faster
Ground-breaking at Newham Hospital
We were delighted to join staff from Newham Hospital and the London Borough of Newham in an official “ground-breaking” ceremony last month.
Hosted by Simon Ashton, Chief Executive, it was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the commencement of the construction works and the progress made in building the hospital’s new intensive care unit and ward.
"I’m thrilled to see these new investments in our hospital infrastructure. They will help us deliver our vision and provide better care to the people of Newham and north east London.” – Simon Ashton, Chief Executive of Newham Hospital.
Newham Hospital is working to improve its infrastructure and equipment over the next year to provide more and better services for patients. A big part of this investment is a brand-new building that will house a 26-bed general ward and a 14-bed Critical Care Unit (CCU).

Work is underway at?James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust . The area within the new building footprint has been cleared and boundary fencing set up, site signage erected, and an acoustic protective barrier installed.
Most recently, an area was cleared for extra staff car parking, and the self-sufficient staff welfare cabins have been delivered and installed.
