The HSE recently published their annual statistics in relation to work-related ill health and injury. We've chosen three of these statistics and included some advice on how Health Matters Group can help you manage these in your workplace.

477,000 workers across Britain are suffering from a work-related musculoskeletal disorder.

Examples of these are:

  • Back pain / neck pain
  • Tennis elbow
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Headaches & eyestrain

A DSE Assessment is a key tool for anyone using Display Screen Equipment on a daily basis to ensure their workstation is fit for purpose.

These 12,000 deaths included the following conditions linked to workplace exposure:

  • Mesothelioma (a type of cancer usually linked to asbestos exposure)
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD)
  • Asbestos related lung cancer
  • Non-Asbestos related lung cancer.

The?respiratory health?of your employees can be adversely affected if they are regularly exposed to:

  • Dusts
  • Gases
  • Fumes
  • Vapours

30.8 million working days were lost in 2021/22 due to work related ill health.

  • 51% of these were due to stress, anxiety or depression
  • 27% were due to musculoskeletal disorders
  • 22% were related to other types of illness
