Health Rosetta: Introduction

Health Too Important Not To Open Source
Few argue that we have a fully optimized healthcare system. In fact, many argue the opposite. The horrible under-performance of status quo health benefits points out just how bad it is. However, I have good news for you. All of the components of a high achieving health ecosystem have not only been created — they have been proven with solid evidence backing them up. When an organization employs components of the Health Rosetta, the results are breathtaking. For example, a small manufacturer saved 30% per capita on health benefits costs versus their peers while a hotelier saved 50% per capita versus their peers. [Update: Since originally publishing this piece, the Health Rosetta has become the call-to-action for a documentary being directed by an Academy Award nominated filmmaker, investment thesis for a venture fund and business coalitions have structured their annual conference agendas around the Health Rosetta.]
A few examples follow of components of the Health Rosetta:
- Transparent Medical Network
- Concierge-style Employee Customer Service
- Value-based Primary Care
- ERISA Sample Plan Checklist

8 年Dave, I'm a dentist and oral health consultant. I teach people how to avoid dental treatments using common sense, science based strategies - that anyone can use ... if they knew how to piece these puzzle pieces together. This simple side of dentistry is not recognized as important but (like health) the daily habits either help or harm health and oral health is no different. Dentistry has no interest in a system that ends up producing less cleanings, less fillings, and improved periodontal health - no dentist involved! I'd love to discuss the place of a coaching program for home dental care in the Corporate Setting. I plan to attend your event on March 27th in Spicewood, Texas.

8 年Sandra, Dave and Grant, I am a specialist solo practitioner, witness to the other side of the coin of which you speak. How to know when you're in the Hans of a competent physician: 1) Your questions are answered and the answers make sense. That encompasses financial and medical questions. 2) A good physician is embued with a willingness to help. There are other principles, but those are two good starting places. Before I enter into a relationship with a patient, I tell them what to expect from me and what is needed and expected from them. Most will agree which allows accountability and I believe adds immeasurably to outcome quality. It's a simple matter of effective communication which at your levels of accomplishment, may be known to be, not so simple. Dave, I've been waiting for minds like yours and the others with whom you are working to surface, believing that cream will rise and that when opportunity presents itself, somebody will grab it. I'm looking forward to seeing your upcoming documentary and riding this wave of change into our future.

9 年Dave, I'm a little late reading this; but I'm grateful to Tom Valenti for sending me to review your writing. I'll read your more recent posts as well. In the meantime, you say this is a call for volunteers. Sign me up to help. I've got a couple of Rosetta-based projects and angles brewing in my little corner of the industry. Your words resonate strongly.
