Health Hacks for High-Achievers

Health Hacks for High-Achievers

As leaders we're programmed and rewarded for having the answer to everyone else's problems.

But the truth is we have needs too - we are not super human even if the first few decades of our life might lead us, and those around us, to think we are!

I wanted to have a deeper conversation, connecting the ideas of nourishment and well-being, and I knew the perfect person to have that chat with.

On this week's Jasper Blueprint podcast I am delighted to be joined by Maraya Brown , a leading women's health expert. Maraya shares ways we can better tune into and give ourselves what we need to be able to show up and lead from a place of abundance.? Highlighting the critical role of well-being in achieving peak performance for business leaders.

Here's the video if you want to dive straight in and watch my conversation with Maraya, or if you prefer to listen scroll to the bottom of this page.

There are so many aspects of this conversation that I love but rather than point out every single one - because I really want you to jump in and listen to, or watch, the whole conversation - I'll just highlight a few key takeaways that struck me during the conversation.

  • Focusing on solving everyone else's problems - As leaders we can often get stuck in a pattern of focusing on solving everyone else's problems, which can lead to denying our needs. Constantly focusing on others takes a legitimate psychological toll, and can stop us maintaining our sense of wellbeing in the midst of a demanding career.
  • The flow on impact of our feelings - Our energy plays a powerful role and influences those around you. As a leader you need to have an awareness about how you are feeling, actively surfacing both the aspects that you are conscious and not conscious of, and then tune into the flow on impact that will have on your team's experience within your organisation.
  • Discomfort with the undefined - Sometimes we need to pause and learn to sit in a season where we feel things are "undefined". Martha Beck says it best in this little clip . Learning to sit, rather than continually racing around to find the answers or be in control of a situation takes practice! As leaders we're often breaking new ground or stepping into the unknown and our society tends to feel uncomfortable in a new space that is undefined. I want to encourage you to trust and discern in those moments.

I hope you enjoy the episode and please reach out if it sparks questions or areas you'd like me to cover in future episodes.
