#Healthhacks #27
Entering 50 has its own spark. You are welcomed and acclaimed for your crystalized intelligence. You are more able to manage emotions at work and family. People like you indeed, believe that ages are just numbers. And such people leave very little space for stress and anxiety. Their healthy and active lifestyle does not bring fear for Ageing.
True that those who are touching 50 and above have to prepare for a different challenge. They already started feeling the subtle change in their body, however. The visible physiological changes like slow body metabolism, poor activity level, digestion discomfort, hormonal disharmony and all push them to the fearful thought of ageing.
Time to hack the ageing factors! Reshape your body, boost your metabolism and maintain distancing from refined & processed foods. Make yourself in the race of ‘fit at 50’, the race in which you can only win.
Estrogen trouble
Ageing calls the body to store fat more readily and burn it more reluctantly. Studies say that lack of estrogen hormone with the elderly age cause body to use starches and blood sugar less effectively. This eventually makes you store more fat.
In women, the loss of estrogen with menopause is associated with an increase in central fat.
Have a conversation with your doctor or certified health professional who can suggest you the best after doing an assessment.
Run a blood test, check thyroid hormones
If you’ve been feeling tired too early and have put on extra weight recently, it might be worth asking your doctor to run a blood test. This is to see if you have a thyroid hormones imbalance. Medications can be prescribed to help you manage the symptoms.
Prevent injuries
Be cautious while sitting and working at a stretch or doing extended warm-ups and cooldowns. If ergonomics is not your cup of tea, simply make your postures right. There are posture correction belts available in the market, you can try it too.
In the present scenario, where we mostly work from home, 50s people are suggested to take breaks frequently and stretch your forearms and legs.
Proteins and exercise
The combination of resistance exercise, such as lifting weights or push-ups, and adequate protein intakes appear to protect muscle and strength, even during weight loss. Subject experts believe that getting plenty of high-quality protein can help buffer the ageing process.
Other than dairy and its products, eggs, soy, quinoa, beans, whole pulses can be included as a protein in the diet.
Ageing and Arthritis
If you are noticing the creaking knee sound or irritating joint pains, You need to check for osteoarthritis. The most common condition ageing takes in. Suffering from arthritis can also lead to decreased activity levels and mobility. So, better to start calcium supplementation. Ask your doctor for the dose and duration.
Dry mouth
Chronic dry mouth is also because of popular medications used for high blood pressure, Parkinson's and also, as a symptom of diabetes, arthritis, and other ailments. Dry mouth if ignored may lead to tooth decay, gum diseases, and fungal infections.
Include sugar-free gum and hard candies, as they help stimulate saliva production. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of water, brushing and flossing to remove plaque and stuck-on food, if any.
