In health research, we are increasingly reliant on research software. Many of us are developing data analysis scripts, code, or even entire software packages. If you write code and want to ensure its quality then this course is for you. This workshop series takes place over seven weekly sessions from 30 October 2024.

LEAP Digital Health Hub Solo and Twin Fellowships

The LEAP Digital Health Hub has now opened a call for funded Solo and Twin Fellowships. The scheme consists of a fellowship period lasting until end of September 2026 linked to a funded research project of between three and 12 months in duration.

Prospective fellows can be from academia, the NHS or public sector, the digital health industry, or relevant third sector organisations.

The aim is to foster leadership, grow capacity and strengthen collaborations between digital health stakeholders to the benefit of healthcare delivery and wellbeing in the South West of England and Wales.

PEDRI 2024 Resources Survey

A survey is takin place to gather information about the resources, guidance and additional materials used by patient and/or public involvement and engagement (P/PIE) professionals in data science to understand a variety of areas. For example, what is already available, what gaps exist etc.

Funding Open Source Science Software

A report on the state of the open source ecosystem and how to fund away “software collapse”, by Georgia Lacovou, includes a section on what more funders can do, including:

· Fund the maintenance of existing projects, not just new ones

· Fund the activities that happen around building software

· Encourage community management

· Use their influence more effectively
