Health Care Optimism

Health Care Optimism

Rumors of the death of health care have been greatly exaggerated.

You don’t need to be a Pollyanna to be hopeful about US health care. Despite considerable flaws, there have been solid advances in quality, safety, access and equity.

The new American medicine is proactive, with clinical teams reaching out and guiding patients along a path to health and wellbeing. As a result, outcomes are improving.

This new, proactive method of delivering care changes how doctors practice and how patients are cared for. It also changes how doctors and hospitals are paid. I cover these topics in more depth here--my first article about the major trends that are energizing US healthcare.

I really enjoyed your perspective on how healthcare is evolving. I worked with the Cleveland Clinic and Kaiser over the past several years. In your future article are you going to talk more about how new technologies are going to shape patients experiences? I would love to hear your perspectives on what role tech will play in the future of healthcare.

Thanks for sharing this. I agree that there is still much to be hopeful for.
