Health Care Leadership: Authenticity
Leadership is significant to the characteristics in which helps to motivate others specifically to see their potential and challenge the status quo. Leaders often have greater understanding and knowledge of how to approach situations or scenarios in order to sustain optimal results. What leadership means to me is the act of ingenuity with an open objective for necessary contributions from the inspiration of others around. Leadership is utilizing social influence for support and to help divulge an agenda within common tasks for a greater outcome. Leadership is the effectiveness within a visual touch to the relationships built as a leader and those that follow. Leadership is understanding that those who follow gets that the leader is capable of guiding in direction to take them were they want to go and challenges the process to develop a greater understanding of where people need to be instead.
Health Care Leadership
A personal experience in which has inspired my informed thoughts about health care leadership was when I worked for a Radiology Company and the leadership team showcased incompetent behaviors because they didn’t want to except the changes that were occurring within the company; for the better by the team they created. What I learned from this is that the people who helped to make the business a success are the key to the development and growth needed within the business. If leadership is enforcing guidelines for optimal success and expansion of a company, the suggestions and experiences of a team should be validated within the outcomes leaders enable when concerns are brought forth; especially if the exchange is met with supportive acquisitions. An authentic leader is always concerned with those who are individually responsible for collectively making the business great and for that reason they are the key holders to ensuring success.
Traits of an Authentic Leader
The traits of a truly authentic leader are reflective in action when pursuing purpose, understanding the value within that purpose and doing it with passion. An authentic leader practices self-discipline, lead with integrity, empathy and challenges self-understandings to utilize those discoveries to find the gifts in thought to serve others accordingly (George, 2006). Authentic leadership is establishing genuine connections within the relationships made. Authentic leaders are capable in distinguishing the concepts of life experiences to understand the passions and humbleness needed in order to meet others perspectives or objectives with an explanation of opportunities that helps to get to common reformations.
Skills and Habits of an Authentic Leader
An effective exercise in developing the skills or habits of an authentic leader is within observation. What I suggest is using experiences of others to help delegate a path to lead in their own way. The development of skills or habits is to be self-aware, have self-regulations and also utilize personal courage to exercise the ingenuity that lives within oneself. Although self-discovery is important; the act of clear and concise ethical and moral considerations helps an authentic person develop interventions; which helps for long term focus and sustainable solutions as a leader. Authentic leaders look for clarity within values, goals and motives to meet what needs to be done as a leader to intertwine the two for a higher purpose (Zielinska, 2011). The information creates an exercise as smart goals and set guidelines and expectations for oneself in which would be beneficial towards developing a better understanding of why past experiences and understandings creates a deeper connection with the organizational context of interactions when leading.
Conclusion
Leadership is magistrate within the output of innovative ideas and practices in which warrants opportunities that afford those who are looking for the solutions to drive lucrative performance measurements. As an authentic leader, the goal is to create an environment in which ingenuity, moral and ethical considerations and purpose fulfills the development of success and future leaders. Traits realized and not yet understood is sought out in observation and only creates moderate opportunities for development as a leader. Smart goals are optimal within the development of skills and habits in which is ongoing and ultimately creates an organizational environment for individual growth and the achievement of necessary cognitive and perpetual behaviors.
