(Healing The Wounds & Rebuilding Trust With Law Enforcement)
After experiencing "church hurt" 10 years ago and reluctant to start my Christian business due to lack of manpower and capital; This year I am trusting God in granting me with the right people to join my management team and a five million dollar miracle which include property from a prime real estate in Chicago after waiting patiently for 24 years. The blessings, miracles, and testimonies within the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute.
GRCAI will become a unique, diverse, Christian socialist organization with a passion to share the message of Jesus Christ to everyone and anyone from the faceless to the famous. We are bold in our passion to share the message of Jesus in a way that speaks to this generation. Our spiritual component isn't built on the gifts and talents of a few, but on the sacrifice of many. We will gained our reputation from my revised book and also from our innovative use of social media and our Arts programs. We believe the message of Jesus stays the same, but we must always be innovative in our methods of telling His story. We will offer an opportunity to our members and volunteers in the area of the arts. Our worship is passionate and we are never apologetic about expressing our love for Jesus. Our messages are faith challenging, relevant, and life changing.
We are committed to showing God’s love to a dying world. Through our ministry, Operation Hands On, we will deliver food to local families within the community we will serve. We will serve people in prison and bring the love of Jesus through our prison ministry. The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute will also provide spiritual and financial assistance to our members in 25 cities within 25 states as well as expand in 25 countries in Africa supporting orphanages and schools God willing. Locally, the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute will work towards repairing the broken relationship with the police department and the black community in Chicago.
Under our political component our focus will be to connect with victims of urban violence and their families and bridge the disconnection and distrust among local police officers so that law enforcers could pursue violent criminals it starts by breaking the code of silence on both sides. The community have to be assured that Rogue Cops are not working in the police department. For example, Jon Graham Burge is a convicted felon and former Chicago Police Department detective and commander who gained notoriety for torturing more than 200 criminal suspects between 1972 and 1991 in order to force confessions.
Allegations were made about the methods of Burge and those under his command. The most controversial arrests began in February 1982, in the midst of a series of shootings of Chicago law enforcement officials in Police Area 2, whose detective squad Burge commanded. Some of the people who confessed to murder were later granted new trials and a few were acquitted or pardoned. Burge was acquitted of police brutality charges in 1989 after a first trial resulted in a hung jury. He was suspended from the Chicago Police Department in 1991 and fired in 1993 after the Police Department Review Board ruled that he had used torture.
In October 2008, Patrick Fitzgerald had Burge arrested on charges of obstruction of justice and perjury in relation to a civil suit regarding the torture allegations against him. On April 1, 2010, Judge Joan Lefkow postponed the trial, for the fourth time, to May 24, 2010. Burge was convicted on all counts on June 28, 2010. We will create our own independent political party at the local level. We will educate the community and push for community rights by creating our own laws known as community rights and get those laws on the books which will be compatible with the dominant culture. Our laws would protect our local residents and give the community a voice and those affected by bias in the current system. We will hold both Rogue Cops and Urban Terrorist accountable for their actions in a constructive manner. We will form cooperative alliance beyond the black community so that this organization can be diverse for all people of Chicago and surrounding suburbs of Chicago. My pledge to the inner cities of Chicago residents is that no one under my leadership will ever have to endure such humiliation and rejection for trying to do something positive in the black community. Since 2001, over 4000 people has been killed in Chicago alone and as a result Chicago is currently the murder capital in America. We see that nothing out there is working to end the blood shed why not embrace my plan? Once I generate enough capital from my book sell and have my management team in place then I will start the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute in Chicago. GRCAI will empower local and national Actors, Actresses, Artists, Comedians, Fashion Designers, Film Makers, Models, Musicians, Performing Artist, Poets, Singers, and Writers.
Our students will learn Film Making, Performing Arts, Entrepreneurship Training, Journalism, Book Writing, and Financial Literacy. We will offer internships and give stipends to our students and offer private employment to our clients and members based on our budget and sponsorship. In time we will offer a second chance program for ex-offenders, former gang members, and the homeless. Once GRCAI is established in Chicago I will declare war on Willie Lynch within the black culture.
My goal this year is to connect with 30 individuals within the United States who have read my story and who agree with my plan to improve our inner cities in America starting in Chicago for those persons to make themselves known to me I provide all of my contact information in my revised book. They must have degrees or training in the following areas: Executive Assistant, Accountant, General Manager, Social Worker, Associate Director, Financial Planner, Marketing, Information Technology Coordinator, Grant Writer, Lawyer, Development Assistant, Real Estate Broker, Business Manager, Insurance Agent, Administrative Receptionist, Human Resource Manger, Finance, Musician, Vocal Coach, Poet, Play Writers/ Film Makers, Actors/Actresses, Theater Director, Public Relation Specialist, Journalist, and Box Office Staff.
The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute will offer multidisciplinary arts program dedicated to developing, promoting and increasing awareness of black culture by presenting a wide variety of art forms. Our programs would represent the black culture of African Americans, Native Africans, Brazilians, and Caribbean Islanders throughout the African Diaspora. GRCAI would offer opportunities for audiences to participate in discussions with the directors. Our films would stress the importance of the artistic and educational value of film from documentaries and short films. The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute (GRCAI) will offer events throughout the year including workshops and premieres. In addition, GRCAI cinema would be a resource for educators, filmmakers, distributors, television stations, and our members.
GRCAI Performance Arts program will bring together film, humanities, literary arts, music, theatre, dance, and visual arts. Our students will gain the knowledge and skills to transform injustice in our society. We want to connect with people who share our values, and turn passion into action.
My book is just the beginning, it’s my hope that through my book I could connect with people from the business community who are Angel Investors, Business Partners, Christian Entrepreneurs, and Social Entrepreneurs to discuss my for profit business plan. In contrast, I also plan on meeting with Donors, Philanthropist, and Sponsors to discuss my nonprofit business plan.
Once my organization is established in 25 states I plan on having Native Africans in America to assist me in setting up chapters in 25 countries in Africa. I want to earn creditability in America first before we expand abroad to Africa. We will go through the proper channels with their government to start my (NGO) Non-government organization/ private for profit service based business in order to offer private employment to our clients and members based on our budget and our sponsorship.
We will provide infrastructure for clean running water, agricultural technology to feed the people, and most of all help improve the African economy as well as educate our people about the problems with Capitalism and show them an alternative GRCAM. We will also expand to Brazil and the Caribbean Islands. GRCAM is about building a strong unified global community and providing basic resources to families that want to utilize our programs and services. My organization is open to all law abiding citizens, all racial groups, and undiscovered artist. This is my contribution back to my community, society and throughout the African Diaspora.
