Healing Intergenerational Trauma in Bosnia and Herzegovina

This past summer I was honored to present a creative writing workshop for MOST MIRA at the restored Screm De Mira. Like so many structures, this building was destroyed during the 1992-1995 wars. But in 2022, the building housed young people who bridged religious and ethnic differences with the sole purpose of stopping the cycle of intergenerational trauma.
During the week-long conference, participants visited a number of memorial sites, including Memorial Complex ?u?njari (pictured above).
In order to heal trauma inflicted by war and displacement, we must remember the past but also look ahead toward reconciliation.
In the weeks ahead, I'll be sharing excerpts from the writings Most Mira participants contributed this summer. I am humbled by their insight and grace!
