April is Autism Awareness Month and I have been reading and hearing about it a lot. What really connected with me the most is the role music can play in helping people with autism engage and communicate.??
Anyone who knows me knows about my immense love for music and my faith in its power to connect with people, bring them together and play an overall therapeutic role for society.??
So, when I saw this video about Huillo, a young autistic boy, being moved by the music of Coldplay, one of my favourite bands, and then performing with them, I literally had tears in my eyes. What transformative powers music has!??
And while music is what moves me, this power comes with every aspect of art and creativity. Art gives people with autism a language to communicate with more fluently.??
People respond to the arts emotionally, and when people on the spectrum use art to express themselves and their imagination, they move people.??
And now listen to Different is OK, a song written, composed and performed by Huillo, with Coldplay.
Make sure you listen from the beginning. And once you’re done, head over to https://www.todossomoshuillo.org/ where you can learn more about this remarkable boy, his music and ways to you can support him and the cause.??
