Passport/Driver's Licence photos come with a lot of rules.
Rules that make sense when they are trying to identify you.
But they reveal nothing about your character
Here is my headshot which I made for myself today.
I made sure to include some of my branded materials and have shoulders raised (for my LinkedIn profile I have cropped it to show just my head and shoulders).
And here is a passport picture I made following the rules.
A passport photo, in essence, is a mug shot where you have no engagement with the viewer.
Take a look at your profile image, if it looks like a passport photo please find a photographer you are comfortable engaging with please make an appointment to get your headshots made.
PS. It needs to be pointed out that neither of these pictures has been photoshopped and each was made with the same camera and lens combination.
