The NSW SES advises people in the following area(s) to STAY INFORMED about predicted widespread minor flooding on the Manning and Gloucester Rivers:

You should stay informed by monitoring warnings issued by NSW SES on their website and Facebook page, listening to your local ABC radio station, and checking the latest weather information from the Bureau of Meteorology online.

What are we expecting?

The Bureau of Meteorology advises rainfall totals of up to 120 mm have been observed in the Manning and Gloucester River catchments since 9am Thursday.

Further heavy rainfall is forecast through the catchments for the remainder of Friday and into Saturday. There is still uncertainty associated with the location and intensity of the heaviest falls.

Minor flooding is possible at Gloucester, Wingham, Taree and Croki Wharf from Friday evening into Saturday.

With the forecast rainfall, further rises are possible from Saturday at some locations. This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as required.

Based on predictions from the Bureau of Meteorology, the following areas may be impacted by dangerous floodwaters:

- The Gloucester River at Gloucester may peak around the minor flood level (4.30 m) overnight Friday into Saturday with forecast rainfall. At this height, the Philip Street Bridge may be impacted from runoff water. Denison Street Bridge may also be impacted from runoff water.

-

- The Manning River at Wingham may reach the minor flood level (4.90 m) Saturday morning with forecast rainfall. At this height, Bight Bridge may be impacted. Direct access to Wingham from Tinonee may be cut as a result. Alternate access via Wingham Road, Gloucester Road (Buckets Way)

-

- The Manning River at Taree may reach the minor flood level (1.80 m) Saturday morning with forecast rainfall. At this height, the Council car park and River St, Library and Council Stores areas beneath the Council Chambers may commence being inundated. Water may also enter the ground floors of the Taree Aquatic Club, Taree Junior Rowing Club and the Manning River Rowing Club.

-

- Low Lying areas of Taree Estate, Glenthorne, Dumaresq Island, Pampoolah and Bishops Bay may begin to become inundated. Weerona Caravan Park at Manning Point commences inundation at this level. Manning Point Road may start to close in multiple locations from this level – including Tea Tree Lane, Cowans Lane, Polsons Lane isolating properties on Oxley Island and Mitchel’s Island including Manning Point.

-

- The Manning River at Croki Wharf may reach the minor flood level (1.50 m) late Saturday morning with forecast rainfall.
