GPAHE Brings You the Latest News in Far-Right Hate and Extremism

??? Tech Policy Press : Tech Companies Have the Ability to Combat Dangerous Conversion “Therapy” Disinformation and Save Lives

“If tech companies are serious about effectively addressing this issue, they must intensify efforts to combat this disinformation, respecting the diversity of their global user base and addressing the unique challenges in different languages and regions.” Wendy V. and Heidi Beirich, Ph.D.

??GPAHE’s take: This week, GPAHE released a special report titled, Conversion Therapy Online: The Ecosystem in 2023, a comprehensive follow-up to our 2022 research that found harmful conversion therapy disinformation thriving online. Though tech companies have made some improvements in content moderation, not enough progress has been made in non-English languages. Platforms such as YouTube have been largely recalcitrant in their refusal to address the spread of this anti-LGBTQ+ content.
Tech companies must acknowledge their power and duty to protect vulnerable communities online by effectively identifying conversion therapy content and actively elevating authoritative medical information in all languages. We will be pushing them to do so.

??? The Nation : The AfD’s Secret Plan to Deport Millions From Germany

“Germany is a country where almost 30 percent of the population are migrants or the children of migrants, where the majority of people are opposed to the AfD, where the ramifications of allowing an authoritarian party to gain power through an election (the 1933 election that became known as the last free election until after the Second World War) are still being felt today.”

The alliance #ZusammenGegenRechts (Together Against the Right), led by “FridaysForFuture,” organized a demonstration titled “Defend Democracy” that drew an estimated 350,000 people to the Bundestag in Berlin on Sunday, January 21.
??GPAHE’s take: GPAHE actively monitors the extremist conspiracy theory “The Great Replacement” and its violent “remigration” rhetoric, unabashedly used by AfD members. Too often, these kinds of conspiracy theories lead to even more disturbing events, like the AfD leadership’s recent discussions that actively planned for the ethnic cleansing of Germany. See our report on far-right groups in Germany, which includes the AfD.

??? 纽约时报 : Inside the Heritage Foundation’s Plans for ‘Institutionalizing Trumpism’

“What do you envision when you say, as you have said, you want to destroy the administrative state?” - ?Lulu Garcia-Navarro interviewing Kevin D. Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation

“I envision the destruction that I’m referring to, which I presume is the real focus of your question, as a political entity being significantly weakened. People will lose their jobs. Hopefully their lives are able to flourish in spite of that. Buildings will be shut down. Hopefully they can be repurposed for private industry. But the administrative state — most importantly, what we’re trying to destroy is the political influence it has over individual American sovereignty, and the only way to do that, or one of the ways to do that, is to diminish the number of unelected bureaucrats who are wielding that power instead of Congress.” - Roberts

??GPAHE’s take: Our comprehensive analysis of the dangerous Project 2025, spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation, includes this key initiative that aims to replace as many U.S. civil service employees as possible with conservatives. This authoritarian blueprint acknowledges that the plan is in motion – actively identifying and training individuals with the intention of infiltrating the federal government.

??? Extra.ie: Exposed: The network of far-right thugs spreading fear, lies and violence

“A network of far-right agitators [in Ireland] is orchestrating a campaign of disinformation in towns across the country where asylum seekers are due to arrive, stoking local fears and inciting people to burn down buildings.”

??GPAHE’s take: We’ve been sounding the alarm and urging local authorities to take seriously the reprehensible action of Irish far-right extremists. Our profiling of anti-immigrant groups in Ireland and prediction that these groups could stoke hatred is part of our ongoing efforts to expose the link between dangerous online rhetoric and real-world violence.

Together, we can combat hate and extremism and change the world.
