Headhunting is so fulfilling!
I never imagined when I started this journey some 5 years ago how fulfilling I would find headhunting.
I have been fortunate to advise numerous clients on senior acquisitions and some of my early hires have gone on to take business leadership roles in their organisations.
It has been great to meet so many talented and driven people and my sense is that the global claims market is robust and the future looks very encouraging!
I have found the personal approach to be so effective. Bearing in mind I do not advertise either my services or any roles I handle tells me that in the niche leadership segment I operate that Clients recognise the people that they want are not the sort that spend their time applying for roles. These hires expect the personal approach(I do not identify with so called headhunters who have to advertise to find people). They are generally seemingly happy where they are and want to know why a prospective employer might get the blood circulating through their veins faster than it already is!
Linkedin is a useful medium and whilst I do have in the region of 15,000 contacts in my network(mainly claims) I generally only use this tool to check out someone who I have received a recommendation about. On the whole though I use my personal network to identify candidates and I have met a lot of people in my career! My clients certainly would not expect anything but the personal approach and that's what their hires expect.
The way I charge is another differentiator and whilst I do not want to give the secret away my clients can see my focus is on value for money and therefore I use a mechanism that works really well for them.
So, as I approach yet another anniversary I want to thank all those clients who put their faith in me and continue to do so. The stack of confidentiality agreements and NDA's sitting on my desk has never been so large however it is nothing but the challenge of helping someone else have a great career in this market, that I am so proud and delighted to have worked in, that makes it all so worthwhile. I look forward with excitement to the next 5 years..
