Headhunter Wins US Navy EMS Hospital Ship Contract from Austal USA Shipyard

Headhunter Inc. is proud to announce they have been awarded the contract from Austal USA to provide a Tidal Wave HMX sewage treatment plant for the three new Expeditionary Medical Ships (EMS) for the United States Navy.

Based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Headhunter is the leading provider of advanced marine waste management solutions?that help vessels comply with the?domestic and international regulations for the treatment and discharge of wastewater at sea.

Headhunter’s Tidal Wave HMX?sewage treatment systems are specifically designed for the unique requirements of marine applications. Commercial and Military vessels require compact, robust, and efficient solutions that can perform under harsh conditions. Headhunter delivers cutting-edge technology that is not only space-efficient but also highly effective in treating wastewater to meet US Coast Guard and International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards.

Compact and Customizable Solutions:

One of the standout features of Tidal Wave marine sewage treatment systems is their compact design. In the confined spaces of a ship or offshore platform, traditional large-scale sewage treatment plants are impractical. Headhunter’s Tidal Wave HMX series can fit any vessel size or type, from small fishing boats and yachts to complex vessels such as a high-speed hospital ship.

Moreover, their systems are built with user-friendliness in mind, offering straightforward maintenance and a long operational life. This ease of use is particularly valuable in the marine industry, where crew members often handle the systems and need solutions that don’t require specialized knowledge for routine operation and upkeep.

Headhunter President Mark Mellinger further added, " Winning this contract is validates the efforts from our team in support of the sixteen previous Austal built EPF class vessels. We never missed a delivery date, and were always there when they needed us, even during the tough times of Covid. Obviously Austal realized we were a trusted partner that could be counted on for an innovative solution for the new EMS program."

CEO Paul Mellinger added to his brother Mark's remarks, "We have been involved in some very unique projects in the past including special ops, Space X? recovery vessels, windfarm support vessels, ferries, offshore oil platforms, yachts, research vessels, ?etc., but what makes this one special for my brother Mark and I,? is that before our Dad started Headhunter? in 1982 , he was a medical school professor of anatomy and our mother was an intensive care head nurse. So, in a way...we have come full circle, and it makes our family proud to be an important part of this next-generation United States Navy hospital ship that will be taking care of people in need all over the world."
