Headed to NSPRA? Here's your guide to St. Louis.
Along with Apptegy , SchoolCEO is headed to St. Louis for the annual National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) Seminar! This is THE annual gathering for school communication professionals from around the country. We’re so excited that we went to St. Louis early to check out the best spots and give you a?sneak peek?of what’s good in STL.
We’d love to meet you in person July 16 to 19—stop by the SchoolCEO and Apptegy booth (Booth #126) and sneak into the Apptegy happy hour social on Monday, July 17th (if you can).
Three ideas to get you thinking
1.?“I love surveys. But before I send a new one out, I remind myself and my leadership colleagues of one important motto: Don’t ask if you won’t act. Are we ready for the results? Even if they’re not at all what we’re expecting, will we share that data back to the community and do something with it?”
— Catherine Kedjidjian, APR in her new perspectives article in the next SchoolCEO magazine?
2.?"People love attention, almost more than anything. Part of what makes people open up, conversationally, is the sense that someone is paying them more attention than normal.”
— Sasha Chapin in his article?Making Normal Conversations Better?(or How to Have Better Conversations)
3.?“I find the statement ‘I don't have time to tell a story’ fascinating.?No one ever says ‘I don't have enough time to present data.’?It's not about time, it's about not knowing how to structure and tell a compelling story.”
One school that inspires
Catherine Kedjidjian, APR is the executive director of communications and strategic planning for Glenview Public School District 34 in Illinois. She is also the 2022-23 president of the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) . Here, she shares her insights into how Glenview District 34 approaches school communications and the strategic planning process.
Here’s a sneak peek of her perspectives article in the forthcoming issue of SchoolCEO (Issue 20) arriving in July. In it, Kedjidjian explores the importance of input, how and when to use it, and how it can support strategic plans and referendums.

“A strong brand is more than a logo. It’s a relationship, a reflection of each stakeholder. When a community sees their input reflected in their brand, it builds connections and trust. So our new strategic plan led immediately to a rebrand; the two are completely intertwined in Glenview District 34.”
