The Position

Reporting to the Head of Primary, the Head of Teaching and Learning K to 6 will focus on raising the achievement standards for staff and students through a process of pedagogical transformation to improve curriculum implementation, teaching and professional learning. With the ability to understand the Flinders Learning and Teaching framework and utilise this as the sounding board for all decisions. The willingness to experiment and implement best and next practice in education and learning is essential. They will liaise closely with the Director of the Kindergarten and the Heads of Sections, consulting with the Head of Campus and Head of Primary School and will be an active member of the Campus Curriculum Committee. The Head of Teaching and Learning K to 6 will be a strong communicator with the capacity to build strong positive relationships with staff as well as students and their families.

The Head of Teaching and Learning K to 6 will have an understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach to early education in the Early Years program. They will be able to demonstrate an extensive experience in their own teaching practice, leading professional learning for staff and delivering information to parents. They will be recognised and high respected by colleagues, parents and the community as an individual with appropriate expertise and experience. They will have experience in and awareness of current pedagogy, research and practice with an interest in the integration of technology as a tool for learning and data analysis. Skills in managing change and developing teams are also fundamental to this role.
