The Head of Security Service of the nuclear weapons assembly site is sentenced to a fine for violation of security requirements

Publicly available court resolutions occasionally provide evidence of the status of nuclear security at Russian nuclear sites, relationships between organizations involved in providing physical protection, and the practice of implementing and controlling the implementation of certain nuclear security requirements.

In September 2021, the town court of the City of Lesnoy, Sverdlovsk Region, made a decision against Valery Ignatyev, then Head of the Security Service of Electrokhimpribor. Electrokhimpribor is one of the two remaining Russian nuclear weapon assembly/disassembly plants in Lesnoy, one of Rosatom’s ten closed cities. Sverdlovsk Regional Court in November 2021 supported the decision of the court of primary jurisdiction and declined appellation.
