MLC School is an independent, non-selective Uniting Church school for girls from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 located in the inner western Sydney suburb of Burwood, New South Wales, Australia. MLC School offers two pathways to matriculation, the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.

With a negotiable start date, The Head of Faculty (Science), leads, develops and promotes the academic Science program in Years 7 to 12 and maintains the development of authentic learning experiences. Reporting to the Deputy Head of the Senior School, this leadership role is responsible for nurturing and supporting an environment where teachers can thrive through an emphasis on reflective practice, self-improvement and collaboration. The Head of Faculty leads a team of science teachers in the development and delivery of a high quality, meaningful curriculum through contemporary teaching practice and pedagogy to make a difference in the lives of students. A proven ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders and inspire staff to be continuous learners, capable of integrating new ideas and developing practice, is essential.

The successful candidate will be a suitably qualified professional with extensive experience teaching to a senior level. An interest in or experience of the IB, and be able to demonstrate:

• Expertise in planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs that foster the social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth of students
• Role modelling of effective reflective practice, professional growth and high levels of practice
• Capacity to engage collaboratively with leaders of the Learning and Teaching team, teachers and other specialists across the school
• Experience in delivering service excellence to parents and carers
• Knowledge of current and emerging educational developments in Science
• Capacity to collaborate and network with others and lead high performing teams
