Capital Theatres is Scotland’s largest independent theatre charity, operating three iconic venues in Edinburgh: the Festival and King’s Theatres and the Studio Theatre, providing some of Scotland’s most important and historic sites for the performing arts. Bringing an eclectic mix of the highest-quality national and international music, dance, drama, appealing to all ages, and with an extensive creative engagement programme, Capital Theatres is a hugely successful, vibrant organisation.
Capital Theatres seeks to appoint an experienced professional for the role of Head of Creative Engagement; at a pivotal point in our strategy, we are looking for a special person with vision and passion for engaging with diverse communities, connecting through the life-changing possibilities culture has to offer. We have two key objectives: the first is to work with our highly experienced practitioners in building out a more inclusive, intergenerational creative engagement platform from our already highly successful programmes of work; the second is to develop a creative hub for artistic talent development and create an exciting new brand for The Studio.
Under the leadership of a new Chief Executive, this move into the next phase of Capital Theatres’ strategic journey spearheads the cultural and economic regeneration of its communities in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Leading a high-performing Creative Engagement team, you will be responsible for devising and implementing this new creative engagement strategy ensuring delivery of creative excellence for the long-term benefit of the many communities it serves whilst championing inclusion and equality across the board.
You will be an energetic and creative individual with strong artistic judgement, a passion for community co-creation and a real drive for social change. A confident communicator and an inspiring role model, you will lead by example. You will have a strong sense of integrity and a proven track record of leading an organisation in the successful production of high-quality engagement projects, developing the creative case to fundraise for financial support and managing programme budgets together with the ability to create and manage complex multi-stakeholder partnerships. You will have outstanding organisational and strategy development skills and a passion for the mission of Capital Theatres.
